So yesterday something very exciting happened. I was invited by an older male friend of mine to prom. Being a freshman this is really big. I'm kind of nervous because prom is a big deal.

Anyway, I was just wondering about y'all's proms. Did you go? Was it fun? What exactly happens at a prom?

You'll have a lot of fun, Kali. You dress up, dance, and mingle. When you go as a Senior, it's kinda sad because many times you don't see a lot of these kids much anymore. Many times you go out to supper at a fancy place, either before or after, or meet for a brunch.
There's no need for you or your date to bankrupt yourselves over this( like many kids do)--that's silly!
Many times older ladies hace very nice glamourous gowns or dresses for you to wear, and yr date can rent a tux or even wear a nice suit.

Have fun and tell us all about it when it's over!

PS It's very fun being glamourous for a special night!

Is this thread about Pron ...........or ...Prom .....??

Any way .......by the time I went to my Junior Prom ............I made a pact with myself ........that I wasn't going to Senior Prom. It just wasn't my thing.

prom's fun...but it's better to go with a group of friends than with just one guy, couse if you go with a date then you (or at least I) feel obligated to dance only with him...but if you go with friends you can dance with whomever you want ;)

Proms are great Mother Kali. Just go with one expectation, to have fun.

My senior prom was 46 years ago and I still remember it. I took a freshman girl and we dated until half way through my army tour of duty.

Try to find another couple to double with or better yet two or three other couples. That way it is more fun and you are less apt to be pressured into doing something you really don't want to do.

Relax and see the prom for what it is, a time to have a great time.

Unfortunely, I'm not going to prom. The guy is going out of town. But I don't feel bad at all. A couple of days ago after school..well lets just say I had to kick him in the balls...:D

No proms or year books in England - so I never got to experience that.

I can't imagine the prom to be much fun if you don't have at least some good friends to hang out with. When I went to the prom, I was still adjusting to the culture. I was friendly with most people at school, but I didn't hang out with anyone after school, and I went to the prom alone. It was like attending some kind of performance. I didn't have any of the pre-prom or post-prom activities, just showed up at the venue and went home after it was over. I did not feel bad mainly because I didn't know what else was going on. If I could go to the prom again, I would have enjoyed it a lot more simply by participating in all the pre and post activities, with friends.
