The history page seems to have left out the fact that the whole thing started on the SomethingAwful forums. ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE SOMETHINGAWFUL FORUMS.

Yeah I think it was some foreign game where someone with horrible English skills did the dialogues. It's not just that line that doesn't make much sense. :)

I havn't read any other responses, so I'll just define it for you:

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BLONG TO US began way back when this game called "Zero Wing" was created in Japan. It proved successful in Japan, so an import translation was created to try and get some more money from USA. However, someone got cheap when translating it and things went bad.. real, real bad. The translated versions intro contained this dialogue:

Captain/Operator/Mechanic are all "Good Guys", and "Cats" is their enemy.

The phrase was written on many BBSs and posted across the web, but quickly became.. how do you say?.. DEAD. Yet the great ones always prevail and the whole thing rose from the dead, and then died again; over and over... And today it's still standing with some mild support.
