It means nothing. The article itself states that the resolution contains no consequences, at the insistence of both Russia and China. Without some means of enforcing this demand, it is just about as meaningful as the FOX network demanding the same thing.

Iran has already said they would ignore any UN demands - why is the UN even going thru this charade?
Lets program the cruise missiles and get on with it already.

A pre-emptive strike would take political capital and the blessings of several countries. I'm not sure we have either.
OTOH - another made-to-order 9/11 would also do it but the price would be the end of the republican party (after the martial law is lifted).

You know that the leaders of both countries are just sitting there in their easy chairs with their Staple's "Easy Buttons" linked to the nuke trigger. The only difference is that Shrub (Bush) is sitting in Cancun judging a wet T-shirt contest and downing a bottle of Tequila.

Israel has probably ignored more UN security council resolutions than Iran ever thought about.
Soooooo........should Israel also be nuked?
(p.s.,....in reasoning out the answer to that question, please do not allow the fact that a few hundred thousand perfectly innocent men, women and children would be incinerated enter into your thinking......after all, when other countries do things that are "evil" or "wrong" or that we happen to not agree with, it is always the proper and correct course of action (if I'm understanding you correctly, and I am confident that I am, given the fact that you've stated the same thing before on several occasions) for the U.S.A. to simply drop nuclear missiles on them and anihilate their entire country, .......right?!?!?)

No because Isreal is a radical unstable nation.
Iran shouldn't be "nuked" either

I assume you meant "isn't".
Out of curiosity, what exactly do you mean by "unstable" in reference to Iran?

No because Isreal is a radical unstable nation.
I know you meant **isn't**..........but Israel is, to me, just as radical in their own way as Iran is in theirs........and if we were giving away 4 damn billion taxdollars per year to Iran (as we are Israel) THEY would not be "unstable" either....neither would they be the slightest threat to us.
Iran shouldn't be "nuked" either
Oh.....I see.
I guess you changed your mind from a couple of posts ago, when you said --"Let's program the cruise missiles and get on with it"

There is almost universal international agreement that "something" has to be done about Iran. No one wants to do anything, they're hoping we will and then they will condemn us.
It must be great to be them.

There are 5 nations that have veto power in the UN ... US, UK France, Russia and China. the US, UK and France are for sanctions against Iran and Russia and China are against sanctions.
How do we get Russia and China on board for sanctions?
Simple -- Both nations are asking for proof positive that Iran is refining for nukes and they want the other 3 nations to produce the proof, lay it on the table in front of the world - then they will join the UN sanctions.
OTOH -- what they don't want is ... another Iraq WMD story, another Niger yellowcake story, another aluminum tubes story, another declaration that nuclear missles can be launched within 45 minutes. Most of all -- they will not accept a trust me from the US/UK again. We've already proven to the world we can't be trusted to tell the truth.
So if we (US/UK) have the proof we claim we have ... put it out on the table for the whole world to see or STFU.
Pretty simply stuff here.
