Hi!
I was just trying to find out what some of your thoughts were on the best gym workouts. I go to the gym 5 days a week, on 3 days I do weight training & 30 minutes of cardio & the other 2 days are an hour of cardio. I'm aware I need to change up my workouts every now & then to get the most out of it. What are some of your workouts for your abs, chest, butt & thighs? Do you eat before working out?
Thanks for all the input!

None of them are. Diet and exercise are bad for you. Stay out of the gym, and eat whatever you want. If you get fat, you'll know it was meant to be.

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. The reason people switch things around is so that they don't get bored. Try to train a different body part each day, example chest{day 1} legs{day2} back {day3}, etc..... Proper diet is probably the most important.

Thanks mad dog!
My trainer/nutritionist gave me an eating plan that looks like this:
1st meal high-fiber carbohydrate, protein & a fruit
2 nd meal same as the first
3rd meal high-fiber carbohydrate, protein & a vegitable
4th meal same
5th meal protein & vegitable
If I wanted a snack before bed I was only allowed to have a protein or a vegitable. In all the meals everything was a serving size.
Would you have any other suggestions?
I used to eat before I went to the gym & was hardly seeing any pounds drop, now I stop eating before I go. Which do you think is the wisest?

You most definitely want to eat something before you go to the gym. Anything that has simple carbs and some sugar in it. It gives you the energy for your workout while you are working out.
For abs - Leg lifts, crunches, side crunches and pulses (these are the best)
To do pulses start a sit up and stop RIGHT when your back is no longer touching the ground. Straighten out your back and pulse up and down about an inch. Do as many as you can, abs are a muscle group that is almost impossible to hurt by pulling or overworking.
Chest - Pushups are best overall! Also decline bench press, this gives the support for a woman, since it firms the muscles under your breasts.
Butt - Squats and lunges help to form the muscles surrounding your glutes to give it more definition, but the best exercise for your glutes are thrusts.
For these you need any platform that is a foot to two feet off the ground. Lie with your back on the ground and your feet flat on the platform. Raise your hips straight up as high as you can and clench. Hold this for a few seconds, then release down a couple inches and raise again.
Thighs - Stairmaster, squats, leg press, hamstring curls. Almost anything.
When I did personal training I found that the best workouts were only 20-30 mins. Short and sweet. As long as you push yourself the entire time you dont need to be there for a full hour.

Hi Wind!
Thank you so much for this very helpful post! My trainer/nutrisionist did say to eat a little something before the gym & I was but I wasn't seeing really any results. I'm not eating before the gym but bring almonds or something for right after my workout & I'm seeing some results. So in your opinion which is the better?
Thanks again this is very helpful!

Most important thing I can think of is enjoy your workout, if it gets blah then mix it up. Most people quit working out because they get bored.

Something I use to eat was natural{real} honey mixed with peanut butter. it only takes a small amount and is an energy booster. After a hard workout it is a good idea to get protien back into your system{fish chicken etc...}

I never keep the same routine for more than a month or two. I try to change up some of my routine, but I usually end up completely changing it up.

mad dog's got it right. Honey gives you instant energy, though it doesn't last long.
Personally I just take an energy bar, but if you actually get serious about it then buy a lot of yams, cook em up and eat a little before each work out. Those are the absolute best pre-workout food, but taste like crap - imo

Hi Wind!
Why are yams so good?
