This is Crazy.... but works

Hotel Charging Guests By The Pound

March 21, 2006

A hotel in Germany has started charging its guests by the pound for an overnight stay, according to a Local 6 News report.

The hotel owner in the town of Norden, Juergen Heckrodt, said he was continually getting overweight guests, so he decided to make them step on the scales to determine room costs.

The hotel requires guests to pay half a euro or 61 cents per 2.2 pounds, according to a Reuters report.

The report said that the move appears to be working with returning guests.

"Much to (Heckrodt's) surprise, the guests were thinner on their next visit," according to the report.

Heckrodt said he hopes his initiative will inspire others to lose weight too and live longer.

The hotel does not turn anyone away who refuses to step on the scales. If they do refuse, they are charged a regular room rate -- without a discount.

That is a good idea for airlines as well. Charge extra for anything above my weight.

Maybe they're doing this to recoup their costs for all the broken furniture.:o

The hotel will probably never have the dubious pleasure of hosting this organization's (http://www.naafa.org/) meetings. Their loss is anothers' gain.

Has anyone heard tell of those special resorts that cater to the overweight?

They have extra large beds, extra large chairs, etc and since everyone else there is fat, no one is embarrassed about getting into the extra-large swimming pool.

Do places like this kinda encourage people to be fat?

Holy shit, NAAFA (national association to advance fat acceptance) has got to be one of the worst associations I have seen! Being obese isn't like being a minority, it's unhealthy and you CAN do something about it.
Im gonna go out and make a club for the acceptance of cracked out kids

First thing you have to do is come up with a better term for them. How about Crackhead Americans? Or the Sobreity-Challenged? Perhaps "people suffering from Chronic Coca Dependency Disease (or CCDD)"?

I bet they charge by KILOS not pounds, since there is only one country still using the obsolete POUND system, all other countries use Kilos.

ahhhhhhh...........amerika. don't you just love it? eat eat eat and sit all day. we need to close the border to mexico and then amerika will lose weight. no one around to pick the food, process it, cook it. or they'll have to get out there and actually work instead of sit all day to get the food they waddle for so much.
