I can't stand it when people confuse things like "there," "their," and "they're." It's so annoying.

I catch myself getting lazy every now and then, by not using the grammatical rules I was taught decades ago, then I'll look at what I've posted and hurry to edit and correct it. Some days bring posts so terrible that I end up seeing only the mistakes and missing the content of the post entirely. While in school, English was a favorite subject, my minor in college, and at times that supposedly retired English teacher comes out, giving me a headache.

yea...
i always forget to capitalize my 'i's. i didn't mean to do it at the beginning of either of these two sentences. i think i do it because i depend on spellcheck for MS Word, which picks it up, but the spellcheck i use on these posts doesn't pick it up (and yes i use a spellcheck because if i didn't you wouldn't be able to read anything i write.)
(p.s. my spellcheck picked up 11 spelling errors in that post)

It all pisses me off. Learn the language you speak, and speak it well.

I'd rather look at thirty errors in an insightful post than well-written idiocy. And I'd rather see six posts of well-written idiocy than one article of spam.
Here's a scale with relative worth:
Well-written, insightful(infinite)------Poorly written, insightful(24)----Well written, stupid(12)---poorly written, stupid(9)----slim's posts(3)----spam(2).

what i cant stand is when people go on and on about nothing in particular while at the same time not taking the time to make paragraphs about whatever subject it is that they are taking up my time and effort to stay up with what they are really getting at all the time im confused about the issue and it makes me want to not even go on with the subject while at the same time making me want to scream at the top of my lungs that the entire subject annoys me.

That, and run on sentences...

People who use spellcheck as a substitute for a dictionary are short-changing themselves. Words have multiple meanings, and the etymology of a word can often show you how best to use it. Alot of times another word on the page will catch my eye, and I'll peruse that one for a spell. It's a good way to increase your vocabulary and improve your usage at the same time.

random capilazation is my peeve. How can you do that unless it's deliberate?
