Change your associations if you want to adjust which program opens which extension.

In Firefox, go to Tools -> Options then click on the Downloads tab. Look for "View & Edit Actions on the bottom of the screen.

For Internet Explorer, open the Windows Control Panel, click on "Switch to Classic View" on the Left Panel if you need it, then click on Folder Options, and the File Types tab.

Oh yeah ............I still have an old Realistic scanner ......I pull out once in awhile.

I intend to hack it ...when I find a good site that will give me good info .....on how to do it.
