I say there is a problem when Catholics ask a man to be married to the church and have no sexual desires. It just ain't natural. Look at the Orthodox, they allow their preist to marry and have normal lives.

I know it is a lot to ask to ask Catholics to change because change is so hard for religion.

There are many good things about Catholics and I respect and honor them but they ask way too much of a priest.

Yes the problem is that preists are molesting children. The bigger problem is that the church is protecting child molestors.

Same thing with cops.

I can accept that bad people will infiltrate any institution. The major problem occurs when teh institution itself is more interested in its appearence then whats right.

Create an enviroment where the parents are responsible enough to watch their children, and one where the priests are properly educated on dealing with lust. But in reality, you can't expect them all to keep to that standard at all times, there are bad parents and bad priests, and many innocent children out there. There is no simple solution, I think it is something so difficult to get around that those loosely disciplined priests or parents will always slip around the norm.

Yeah, the US needs to stop keeping an eye on extremiist Muslim organizations and governments because there are some cases of pedophilia in the Catholic Church that need to be focused on.

Yes googs, that has a major part to play in the pedophile cases, but don't assume that is the only reason.

It is a matter of theology that they take a vow of celibacy, you can't "ask" them to change. Ask the Jews to move the Sabbath to Sunday, won't happen.

There are many good things about Catholics and I respect and honor them but they ask way too much of a priest.

They don't ask this of a priest, taking up the clergy as a vocation is a choice.

I was just stating my opinion. I have many opinions, my coworkers used to tell me that opinions were like butt holes, everyone has one.

I agree with everything in your post. I am an outside observer and what Cathloics do doesn't effect me. I admire Catholics. Some of my Catholic inlaws just had a communion for a step grandson and I was very impressed.

What happens when the parents feel that the priest is a very honorable person. Would you trust your kids with a cop, priest, judge, doctor? Now would you trust your kid with a stranger on the street. My point is that sometimes the one we think we know is the strangest on the street. Alot of people believe very highly in their religion and they look up to those in charge of said religion. The problem comes when the higher ups hide the problems for sake of saving face. The problem isn't with the parents it is with the society they're living and dealing with.

That doesn't mean you should take your eyes off your children. Even with a babysitter present parents call to check up.

Nope, except in extenuating circumstances of course.

The problem comes when the higher ups hide the problems for sake of saving face. The problem isn't with the parents it is with the society they're living and dealing with.

Regardless of society, you could expect the Church to try and keep quiet about this issue while they chastised the priests or fought in court. And yes, the parents do take some blame for their lack of supervision, even when it is someone you trust.

Communion for a young child is tantamount to brain washing. The catholic church is a complete disgrace to the human race. The heirarchy of any church that systematically protects and hides pedophiles are aiding and abetting criminals and should be charged with conspiracy. Their actions are not the behavior of moral men.
