One Thousand Reasons
Documenting the Failures of the Bush Administration
Bush Can Be Stopped by Gerald Rellick

A really good article about Bush, Republicans and the Dubai Ports deal. (http://www.thousandreasons.org/get_article.php?article_id=238)

" ....if his name weren’t Bush and if his father wasn’t once president, the most George W. could have hoped for career-wise would have been something like night manager at a Kentucky Fried Chicken."

I agree with the author on the port deal and have been looking for objective articles about it, but when I read something like the above, it kills the rest of the article.

I agree.

There is NO way that George bush possesses the mental acuity necessary to handle the job of manager at a Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Every day there are more articles covering problems with the Bush administration and they appear to be leading towards impeachment.
The list of problems and all the investigations just keeps getting longer.
I only hope they can be removed from power soon. Before they do any more damage, like start another war.:hitout:

At this point, I'm afraid they've already wrought so much damage and destruction that the country is beyond being saved.

The bus is already beginning to slide over the precipice, and instead of trying to stop it, the Rightwing faction is standing behind it pushing as hard as they can.

We in the U.S. were given exceptional opportunities to make this world a better place for everyone, not just the children of the obscenely wealthy who have more than they need or could ever use. We were given fiscal, natural and intellectual resources beyond compare, with which we could have helped others less fortunate. Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz and Harvard budget expert Linda Bilmes now estimate the cost of the Iraq war to be between $1 and 2 trillion dollars, with the national debt already approaching $9 trillion dollars. We spend over $450 billion a year on an invincible war machine that spews death and destruction around the world. How can America ever claim the slightest association with "morality" or "ethical behavior" when it spends over $12,000 per second on said war machine when for every 24 hours that pass, thousands of children die from malnutrition and the diseases associated with malnutrition.....?

I had asked the question @alternet, what happened to our system of checks and balances and why had congress and the senate let things get so far out of control?
One of the best responses I thought was this..

"The checks and balances were created back in a time when it was not conceivable that a party would work together
at all levels to gain control of all three branches of the government. Since the constitution was written,
there has been a sweeping change in where the political focus is aimed. It is no longer just about an individual's power,
but also about money and party control. Enabled partially by the increase in communications abilities,
the Republican party has moved away from wanting to hang on to the judgeship or office that is held and towards always
expanding to control the entire bureaucracy from top to bottom. While we call George a buffoon and mock him,
his political allies and supporters are walking all over the rest of us.
The sad thing is that they rarely even bother to hide their actions, because so few people are paying attention,
and those who are paying attention are primarily powerless to affect change in the governmental structure that has been
created."
