Raleigh, N.C. — The U.S. army has charged seven paratroopers from its elite 82nd Airborne Division with engaging in sex acts in video shown on a homosexual pornographic website, authorities said Friday.

Three of the soldiers face courts-martial on charges of sodomy, pandering and engaging in sex acts for money, said a statement released Friday by the military.

In this case pandering means that the allegation is that the paratroopers engaged in sex for money. In other words they were paid for that video, and the leaders of the group recruited some of the individuals in that video in return for the payment.

This could be looked at as a simple case of paratroopers making a training video on how to pack chutes.

All Im saying is that rape is routinely brought up and ignored in the military. But the second "OMG TEH GAY!1!!1!!" is said theres a discharge...

But hey go ahead and act like there hasn't been numerous scandels revolving around permitting soilders to sexually harass or rape others...

I could also bring up the fact that numerous middle east translators have been fired for being "TEH GAY!!!1!!1". Yeah I mean screw national security we don't want them homos around...

I'm not saying they shouldn't get busted. The difference in responses is just astounding.

Military Hides Cause of Women Soldiers' Deaths
By Marjorie Cohn
January 2006

In a startling revelation, the former commander of Abu Ghraib prison testified that Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, former senior US military commander in Iraq, gave orders to cover up the cause of death for some female American soldiers serving in Iraq.

Last week, Col. Janis Karpinski told a panel of judges at the Commission of Inquiry for Crimes against Humanity Committed by the Bush Administration in New York that several women had died of dehydration because they refused to drink liquids late in the day. They were afraid of being assaulted or even raped by male soldiers if they had to use the women's latrine after dark.

The latrine for female soldiers at Camp Victory wasn't located near their barracks, so they had to go outside if they needed to use the bathroom. "There were no lights near any of their facilities, so women were doubly easy targets in the dark of the night," Karpinski told retired US Army Col. David Hackworth in a September 2004 interview. It was there that male soldiers assaulted and raped women soldiers. So the women took matters into their own hands. They didn't drink in the late afternoon so they wouldn't have to urinate at night. They didn't get raped. But some died of dehydration in the desert heat, Karpinski said.

God forbid we should have to reassess the roles women are playing in our military.

Oh, no - we can't be anything but PC, so in the relentless pursuit of being "fair", let's not use our fucking head.

I'm sorry, but I don't think they have any business being on a battlefield. In short, they're not physically or emotionally up to the task. This isn't rocket science - if they want to join the military, fine - join the Air Force or Navy, and if they're bright enough; work Intel, but please, for the love of god, leave the fighting to the men.

Do you know why we use such a week gun {m16} for fighting? We could just as easily use a 30-06 and just blow a person away. We use the weeker gun to disable a soldier this way their buddy will have to stop and help. Bang 2 shot instead of just one. The reason I brought this up is because of your point about women. Most American boys still like to take care of their girl. Now if I was the enemy I would think it's great to let women into the military this way Billybob will be more worried about Sue then what his job is. I agree 100% with you about not having women in combat, it is to much of a distraction. Let the flames fly :)

And what, exactly, does that have to do with anything? Of course, "the" woman pictured here received the silver star for bravery, but then again - another young lady named John Kerry also was given one about 35 years ago over a scratch on his arm. You know, it's possible that politics played a role in her being awarded that medal, but then again, my hunches aren't always dead on, so who's to say...

HOLD IT ... As a woman, I can tell you that I am a helluva lot tougher than a lot of men that I know. In a brawl, my money is on me. As for shooting a rifle or whatever, forget it. I hate guns. :)

But, I say, if a woman wants to be in the thick of things, let her. She may just save a man's ass, or, in the alternative, get herself killed. The latter would probably save the man's ass anyway. Her ass instead of his. JMO.

Terminal velocity and general ballistics are very good for the 5.56 mm NATO round (otherwise known as the .223 here in the states), but the kick and cyclical action of the bolt is far less than that of the 7.62 mm round (the cartridge that's popular with the towels). Our guns are more accurate, faster firing, and easier to aim. However, your statement is factually correct - our round is "weaker", so to speak, but only because of the aforementioned attributes it has inherent to its design. The ArmaLite product is freaking brilliant, period.

Just because a woman can swing around an 8 lb sledgehammer doesn't mean they can do it better than a man. Anyone who tries to minimize my point by saying something stupid like, "gee, thank god we're not swinging around sledgehammers in Iraq" has completely missed the big picture. Women are a distraction - they're slower - they're weaker - and they lack a killer instinct. Read: need not apply.

That's all well and good in theory, but the reality of the situation stipulates that if they're shot for being slower and weaker (which they are inherently...), then they put our soldiers at risk. If they're shot (and there's a good chance of it), then they occupy the time of our medics, create paperwork, and cause headaches. While not in battle, they're a major distraction, and they require separate facilities. I'll say it again: I have zero problem with women in the military, but for god's sake, using them in battle is like measuring with a micrometer, marking with a grease pencil, and cutting with an axe. Yes, it gets the job done, but at what expense?

Although I hesitate to do this and am kicking myself while typing, I think I have to agree with you. As a whole, women are a distraction, women are weaker and women are slower. I reserve judgment on the "killer instinct" though.

And, I have to hand it to you Prae, you sure know your ammo.

Possibly, but that's what makes them better than men, IMHO. Women typically aren't hostile. I don't think either sex is better than the other, but I see qualities on both ends. If men are better at lifting shit, then let 'em do it. Women are far better at multi-tasking. Women see with a clarity men don't, and I'd never pretend that men could compete on that level. That's all I'm trying to say.

This raises an interesting topic, regarding women in battle. I got to meet with the Israeli director of the documentary 'Company Jasmine', which was an in-depth look at the role of females in the Israeli armed forces (both men and women are forcibly enrolled in the military), which ties into this very interesting topic-check it out if you get the chance.

We've entered a modern age where our military uses technology in the scope that the physical stresses of combat are less prominent. Most often times, females are seen as weak when they cry, but afterwards it is shown in psychological studies that they grow stronger in their resolve by that carthartic process. Also, if it is a volunteer force, they know clearly what they will be facing if they sign up, and so demand to be put in battle is sort of expected out of some headstrong women.

Either that, or they're of a highly quixotic nature. Take your pick. It reminds me of the high school girls who wanted (err, "demanded") the opportunity to wrestle on the school team. That lasted for about a week, and ended in bloodshed.

First the ammo passage and now you're throwing out nickel and dime words like "quixotic", someone's breaking in a new thesaurus, aren't you?
Kidding (of course), it is nice to see more colorful expression from time to time.

All I was saying is that women can do certain things better than men. Multi-tasking is one of them.

I wouldn't say the statement: "Women see with a clarity men don't" expresses the same explicit message...
Not to mention there are positives and negatives to all those traits, since multi-tasking effects the ability to remember things proficiently.

Not exactly, but I do like to throw down when I get a chance. Rest assured, I knew what quixotic meant, but I think I should've used a better word anyway. When I typically think of the word "quixotic", I reference women who read cheesy novels with a built dude on the cover. Whatever. In the context of the sentence, I think it plays fine.

I wouldn't dismiss High School Women who wrestle as a group. Some may not last, others do. Check out this article about a young woman in Wisconsin. I'd put my money on her in a fight with just about anyone.

What the hell does this have to do with anything when I was in the military I got many awards, whoopy sh**!!!!!

Back to the issue, while I was in the military I witnessed many a men going goo goo over a women when she entered the area, major distraction. I speak from experience not just out of my arse. I took a gunsmith class but thanks for the enlightening post:). My point was/is that we use a varmont gun to kill{wound is more like it} people. The .223 is good for woodchuck hunting where as a 30.06 would be a much faster cleaner and more reliable kill for the larger creature{human}

I think most of us would agree with having the women push buttons, the real problem is about women being on the front line.

Chick fights are tough :)

I've seen a few post on here about how tough women can be and I'm sorry but they are not as tough as men. Sure there are women out there then can bench press a VW but for eveyone of them there is a man then can press a Tractor trailer. If the choice came down {life or death}I'm sure most men would rather fight a women then another man, because there chance for survival would be much greater.
