Yes - these pictures are horrible - they are the pictures of war, which is sickening to any decent human being.
War is never pretty. I just don't understand how you can use these as a justification for anything - they certainly are not a justification to do nothing.
Some other pictures that would be terrible also
- WTC victims crushed under milllions of tons of rubble
- Saddams victims - Gas victims, torture, shootings, rape
- Butchered Kuwait citizens in 1990
None of it is pretty, but Saddam is the butcher - not the US. He has no care for human life, we do. Have you seen the footage of public executions? of the hundreds of people killed and left for dogs to eat - purely as an example for people to never question his rule, or the 60,000 Iraq's brutally butchered after the uprising in 1991? The women with their tongues cut out, the women beheaded on the street? Yes, we recoil at these images - but Saddam rejoices in murder & turture & abuses of human life as a way to hold onto power. Are you going to let a handful of pictures over-power all the rest? Do you want to be a puppet for propoganda or do you want to look at the bigger picture?
Also - put the whole thing into perspective - more people are killed on US roads each day than have been killed each day in Iraq. Should we stop driving cars? All death is terrible, on either side, but this has to be done. Saddam can stop it at any time & he has had every opportunity to avoid it.
The Iraqi people may never like the US, but the 23 million Iraqi people will rejoice when Saddam is gone & thousands of potential future photo's of death will be never taken. Don't sell out the lives of people who would be future victims so your own stomach feels ok today, while you view images on the net from 1000's of miles away with your silver spoon in your mouth.

Very well said DrewM. I watched a news show the other night and they had a female Iraqi on. She told of the horrors that Sadam and his handy men have done. She told how they would hook electrodes to different parts of her body. She told of different ways they would toture people just for the fun of doing it.
