View Full Version : One of the Five Big Lies: America is an Imperialist Nation

The other day when I was walking through campus, I heard some pinko saying this about the war (and I quote): "I think it's arrogant as shit, what we're doing. It's the worst example of American imperialism."

For those who think America is an imperialist nation, please show me what our empire consists of.

Here are some quotes to help you put into perspective how idiotic these fools are:

From a protest April 20, 2002 in Washington DC:

"We are a terrorist nation"

"I think the United States of America is a culturally and emotionally diseased country.

"Who's the real Axis of Evil? If any country's really an Axis of Evil, it's us."

"The United States, being the one lone superpower, thinks its manifest destiny is to rule the world."

Most of them will grow up and see the light. If nothing else, the realities of daily life, even in a so-called 'terrorist' nation will prove to be more comfortable than anywhere else they might visit.
Sure is enough to make you want to vomit when you're in earshot though.
Just remember - young and dumb is universal.

How "young" are you talking? If you think age is a sole indicator of intelligence and/or wisdom, then you've proven that not only the young can be dumb.

MAybe your right mad dog, they think the islamic terrorists are some kind of rebels, and we are the evil galactic empire hunting down their base. sadaam is luke skywalker, while Osama is Han Solo, and that hairy guy with the big necked T shirt is Chewbacca. George Bush is Darth vader and Cheney is the Emporer controlling eveything from behind the scenes, it all makes perfect sense now. Thanks Mad dog!

Don't jump to conclusions Leper. This thread began with Dave saying "....when I was walking through campus....". Granted, not only today's youth are found on campus, but they are probably the majority. I responded to his post. Ignorance and stupidity have no age or educational limits. IMO, statements such as those Dave referred to would not be made by a person you & I both might view as intelligent and wise. The US is not imperialistic, nor is it a terrorist nation. Despite our rather obvious discord on some political issues, I tend to believe that we can at least agree on this small point.

Maybe you're right but then you should work hard to convince the rest of the world because this is now the leading opinion outside US.

How hard is it to convince? What colonies do we have? The American "empire" rules no one. Calling America "imperialists" is incredibly DUMB.

its our influence dave, that is what rules the planet, and that is what france has openly said thier job is, to counter our influence from spreading o much, thats what the whole UN is for. YOu see, when you have the best of everything in the world, people hate you. Tehy hate you bcasue they can not have what you have, and becasue we dont give it to them just becasue they want it. They want everyone to be socialists, in other words, instead of making everyone the ame by making everyone have the best life possible, they want to bring down succesful people to the level of the people who dont have much and barely make it, its somekind of sick payback in thier mind, liberalism and socialism really is a mental disorder.

Yes, we can agree on this. I'm just wary of your stereotype, because I've met several college-age people who were niether unwise or unintelligent. Of course, I will acknowledge that there is some negative correlation between youth and wisdom, but my point is that its not a universal truth, as you seemed to espouse.

Actually I only used part of a phrase, that I learned in the military many moons ago: ".....young, dumb and fulla cum.....". That phrase was used to describe / justify young soldier's occasional behaviors. Sort of like: "....boys will be boys..." I was attempting to close the post with a touch of humor, not an indictment of youth.
