If so, I could REALLY use your help. I was going through some of my old College notes and ran across a problem that I can't seem to remember how to do for the life of me. This problem calls for the solution of the value of "Y" while using the derivitive method of doing so. The problem is y=X"risen to the Tangent of X"

Where the question mark is, there is a formula that has to be applied to get the answer. Does anyone here remember how to do this? :@@:

Okay, step one is indeed taking the natural log. Then bring tan x down from the power, using log rules. You're now at ln y = tan x ln x. Then differentiate. You end up with (dy/dx)(1/y)= (1/x)tan x + ln x sec^2 x. I think you can take it from here.

Man its been so long since I've done this. The answer I came up with is (d/dx)=tan+sec^2

is this correct?
