View Full Version : welcome to amerika

a place where the rich are patted on the back for helping the economy by being rich and/or getting rich.

they are given tax breaks while the poor can barely survive. they bitch about having to help the poor, and at the same time are against raising minimum wage. they claim it will be bad for the economy because prices will go up, and at the same time they get yearly raises, and more bonuses and benefits.

welcome to amerika where the politicians work for the rich. they give them tax breaks while the poor are not worthy of the use of taxes paid. politicians vote themselves a raise and the poor are not allowed one. politicians can't fix social security and dip into it to pay for other government services, like blowing people up, while they have a nice retirement fund for themselves.

welcome to amerika where the rich are treated as celebrities, royalty, and gods. and the poor are treated like dirt.

welcome to amerika, a "christian" nation.

Exactly my thought also.

Welcome to America where people can whine, complain, cry, take no personal responsibility for their life and offer nothing of value to society and yet still have a far better standard of living than 90% of the rest of the worlds population.

Anyway, are you bragging or complaining? You are clearly not sure because there is an obvious contradiction in your tone.

Welcome to America....

where a man can rise from humble beginnings and fulfill his destiny

where blacks, whites, Asians and Latinos can sit down together in a classroom, for free

welcome to America--always the first nation to lend a helping hand when others need help

where, despite a poor economy, a new record was set in giving to charity

home of NASA, Cal Tech, MIT, the University of Chicago, where bright minds are encouraged

where a man can say what he wants, go where he wants, believe what he wants, live where he wants, all within the very minimal law

the Arsenal of Democracy, the last best hope on Earth....where a man can stand up for what he believes and live up to the Revolutionary ideal of 1776 as long as he has the courage to dream and to work...so that these dead shall not have died in vain

home of autumn college football games, sandlot baseball, rock and roll, Route 66, mom and pop grocery stores, roadway diners, 4th of July parades with little kids riding decorated bikes

Welcome to America, the land that never has been yet, and yet must be.

Oh, bye the way, catch, they call it seaweed because it is found in the sea. Gary is quite far from any sea. If you are going to insult people at least do it with correct usage.

I don’t see what the problem is.

Rendova wrote what she sees (in her mind) to be special, or unique, about the U.S. In other words, she is making a general comparison of the world and, in her own words, laying out what she thinks is particular to the U.S.

I have done the very same thing. I made an honest, itemised reply to all points. Did you actually read what I wrote? Did you find something in my words that is untrue or dishonest?

If someone makes a good point, I usually express my support. If someone lies, I think I ought to protest. If I see misinformation being spread around, I feel it is my obligation as an international citizen to correct it. That concern is particularly valid as allForums is an international meeting place where “heads up” understanding should be one of the most important goals.

I exercised my right, as a member of this board, to say what I thought needed saying. That gave me satisfaction and so I see no problem - but if you see one then I suppose that it must be yours’. By reading your first reaction to my post I don’t think there is much doubt about it either….

Why the personal insinuations? I made not one such single personal attack towards you or towards Rendova in my original post. So what gives you the arrogant reasoning to you think that it’s an admirable thing for you to do?

I basically agree about most of your posts.
I just think you could sometimes try to be nicer with people...
It is quite understandable that people will react badly to your posts if they feel you only want to confront them. Of course you may not give a damn aboit what people think of you, but I feel it's unfair towards at least a certain number of people here, whose opinion may differ from yours but who you could eventually find to be quite nice people anyway. Don't blow your chances to become a welcome and listened member of this forum by appearing unnecessarily agressive ! True, Catch3.

I think the last portion of that, though, is the key; it never ceases to amaze me how many people in America --as evidenced by a cross section on these boards-- will, upon hearing ANY ctiticism for what is happening in America, immediately set up an intense howl of indignation, closely followed by the ever-present claim that the person who voiced said criticism is guilty of harboring an abject "hatred for America!!!!".

It reminds me of a situation wherein one person might tell another person--- "You know, the Chicago White
Sox defeated the Houston Astros in the World Series last year" -- and the person it was said to responds by screaming back --"Yes, but WHY would you SAY such a thing?!?!?..... it's obvious to me now that you HATE the Houston Astros!!!....Why oh why?!? do you hate them so?!?!?"

I love how freethinker and catch 3 do nothing but bash the US and when someone says something they get all bent out of shape and say "we cant even mention anything bad about the US" WTF? you do not simply mention some criticism, you attack the government and the majority of the citizens as idiots and fools, should we just sit there and say "your right, we should just thrown in the towel and elect freethinker to fix all our problems"? what you are seeing is people defending themselves from your attacks, not people trying to silence your sincere concern for the welfare of the union.

There is critique of the US - which is fair enough, nowhere is perfect, but then there is outright twisted hatred for the US - totally different thing.

For Freethinker in particular, the level of your hatred doesn't add up to any equation where the output is close to sane. Much of the critique could be taken and debated quite successfully, afterall there are many elements of truth in his fever - but you can't dabate this type of thinking - they are all black & white, controls stuck on max & if you're not stuck on max with them then apparently you are a mindless fool that just "doesn't understand" - as if what they state is complexity beyond mere mortals comprehension.

Allforums is not a therapists couch - I think for some people though it is a 3rd rate substiution of the real therapy they need.

Your insight is often underestimated FreeThinker but there are those on this board who appreciate what you have to say.

It is amazing to me that some call you “anti-American”. If they would just sit calmly and read what you have to say then they would see the caring frustration in your words that your countrymen are in such a fuddled mind.

Don’t give up FreeThinker! People like you are growing in number and eventually you will triumph and save the U.S. from utter ruin. Then they’ll all be saying, “Yeah. I remember when ‘we’ were fighting an uphill battle.” Yep. They’ll all be trying to take the credit.
