War Protester Sentenced to 6 Months for Damaging Upstate Recruiting Station
...
Mr. Burns seemed to agree that prison would not change his views. When it was his turn to speak, he refused to apologize for any of his actions and said he had been acting "honorably and honestly" in demonstrating at the military station.

As marshals led Mr. Burns away, a few dozen of his supporters broke into song, until security guards cleared the courtroom.

In 2003, using methods more commonly seen in the Vietnam War era, Mr. Burns, who is now 45, and three other activists - Clare T. Grady, 47, her sister Teresa B. Grady, 40, and Peter J. De Mott, 59 - spilled vials of blood on the walls, windows and American flag of the recruiting center in Lansing, near Ithaca, to protest the impending invasion of Iraq.

No Prison Time for Soldier Held in Iraqi's Death
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

FORT CARSON, Colo., Jan. 23 (AP) - A military jury ordered a reprimand but no jail time Monday for an Army interrogator convicted of negligent homicide in the death of an Iraqi general who died after he stuffed him headfirst into a sleeping bag and sat on his chest.

The interrogator, Chief Warrant Officer Lewis Welshofer Jr., also was ordered to forfeit $6,000 in salary and was largely restricted to his barracks and workplace for 60 days.

Maybe it wasn't violence directly towards another human, but it was violence against property, that we own. My tax dollars go to the US military so throw blood on the walls damage a building and yes You and I pay. Burns will be happy to go to jail after all if he is there he won't pay for the damage he caused, you and the rest of us tax payers will. There are ways to protest wihtout acting like an a**. How would you feel if the local kids of your school smashed everything because they were protesting home work? I am not saying I'm for the war but I'm also not for some nut job with his head stuck up his arse.

First of all you cannot commit an act of violence 'against' property. Does property have feelings? A persona? No it doesn't.

You can violently destroy something.

You can also non-violently destroy something. That is the case here.

If someone poisons another (so that they die in their sleep) have they commited an act of violence? No. You have stolen a life; You have destroyed what is not yours; You have commited an crime against humanity; but you did not commit an act of violence.

Pouring a liquid on property, no matter who it belongs to, is not violent.

I already addressed this. It was an act of vadalism.

And funny that. You have not denounced the murderous acts of a member of the military but the non-violent vandalism of an anti-war protestor...

so if I keyed your car or took a hammer to it it wouldn't matter?

You can violently destroy something.

I think I said that

You can also non-violently destroy something. That is the case here.

When something is done on purpose it is turning it from non-violence to violent. Example I hit your car while trying to miss a child ridding his/her bike{non-violent}. Now I stop in front of your house and poor pigs blood all over your seats and smash out the windows with a hammer{violent}.

If someone poisons another (so that they die in their sleep) have they commited an act of violence? No.

WTF????????? commiting murder is non-violent? holy crap are you serious, that's like saying he shot the guy it's okay, but if he beat him in the head with a hammer that's over the line. Commiting a murder is a violent act no matter how it's done.

You have stolen a life; You have destroyed what is not yours; You have commited an crime against humanity; but you did not commit an act of violence.

:D Honey I'm home don't worry I don't want to beat you to death I just want you to take this poison. Yeh in the end you'll be dead either way but hey atleast I look like a nice non-violent person. :D :D :D

Pouring a liquid on property, no matter who it belongs to, is not violent.

Like I said let me splash pigs blood all over your furniture and see how non-violent that'll be :@@:

I already addressed this. It was an act of vadalism.

Vadalism often leads into violence take the exmple of me smashing something of yours. It is a form of violence. If someone doesn't want to commit violence against another maybe they should keep their hands to themselfs and their property?

And funny that. You have not denounced the murderous acts of a member of the military but the non-violent vandalism of an anti-war protestor...

Sorry I do not agree with the murderous acts of a member of the military or anyone.

Now I stop in front of your house and poor pigs blood all over your seats and smash out the windows with a hammer{violent}. Whats wrong? Did you realize that calling the mere pouring of blood violent sounded stupid so you had to smash the windows as well?
:D
Like I said let me splash pigs blood all over your furniture and see how non-violent that'll be It would be non-violent. I didn't say it wouldn't be a crime or that it wouldn't be wrong. All I said was that it was non-violent.

You apparently have a problem seperating these terms in your head. Do me a favor and actually think about what I am saying instead of merely reacting to it.

Sounds like a plan, I'll drive. Then its off to FT's house, bring some boxes--it'll be tough to move a mangled, unconscious body to Sweden. :D
