I can't remember if this was asked before or not, but I am curious as to how many folks say they are atheist, but still believe in some sort of higher power?

To my understanding atheist believe in nothing, your born you live then you die that's it game over. An agnostic believes in something they just are not sure what.

Perfect examle of an Atheist. You can't believe in higher power if your Atheist. Actually, the reason im atheist is because science proves it all wrong.

I am an athiest, but I do beileve in a higher power. However, it is more like the laws of physics or something like that. It is inanimate and has no personality or morality to it. It simply controls the movement of the planets, chemical interactions and that kind of things

Strange you bring that up. That is true. But in higher power I mean a deity or divine being.

I realize that, but to me god is nature and science that drive it. I think those that believe in the traditiona "god" have that all confused.

Atheism - Beleif that no god exists.

Agnostic - Belief that a god like thing may exist or may not.

I think Atheism (under my definition) is just as misguided as Theism. How could one know one way or the other?

Not at all. Science, by its very definition, can't say anything about the existence of a deity. Incidentally, can you provide evidence that there is no god?

I'm sorry, but that is a totally incorrect way of stating it.

To say --""Atheists believe there is no god""-- suggests a positive belief....albeit a belief that no god exists.

A better way of stating what atheism is is to state that **atheism is the absence of belief in gods (or supernatural beings)**.

There's a difference between --

*I believe there is no all-powerful entity known as god*

and

**I do not possess a belief in an all-powerful entity known as god**.

We atheists do not claim that the lack of evidence constitutes proof of God's non-existence, only that the absence of evidence gives us no reason to hold a belief in God.
