To me, the best Proverb I have ever heard is an old Russian Proverb that states:

"There is no teacher Greater then experience, there is no punisher greater than fate, for Fate is a patient mistress, but she forgets no one"

The best Quote I've ever heard states:

Whatever doesn't Kill you, will only make you stronger". This is a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche (German Philosopher (1844-1900)

Whats yours?

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd.

Pardon me, but I have to go watch Pulp Fiction again...

I know this one's long but it's been a huuuge encouragement to me. It's by Mother Theresa (wouldn't call it THE best quote I've ever heard but it's pretty pretty nice IMO. Um yah, I wouldn't completely agree with the last part sayin what you do is ONLY b/w you and God, though)

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self centered;

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;

Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, at it may never be enough;

Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, if the final analysis it is between you and God;

It was never between you and them anyway.

I like the quote by Mother Theresa. Jesus said to do everything you do as though you do it for the Lord. So if the final analysis is between you and God,
and what else is the Great White Throne of judgement for but to determine whether or not you followed Jesus? Kinda points us in a direction.

mhh, yah, I totally know what you are saying. I'm just wondering whether it's a bad thing to do what you're doing for people as well. I mean what about the TWO most important laws: loving people as yourself AND loving God.

What about loving your neighbor as yourself and loving God? Isn't that how Jesus lived? Mankind has a lot of abberations and that's something they need to get under control & eliminate. They can do it with a little direction and help.

My greatest quote was from Mahamah Ghandi:

You can judge the character of a people by how they treat their animals.

I have always used that as a measure of a persons character and have never been wrong.

Serial killers such as Jeffrey Dahmer and other like him who enjoyed torchure frequently torchured animals as children and then graduate to human beings as their perversion escalate. It is a known statistic that those kinds of killers use animals in that way first.

What is the Greatest Quote or Proverb you've ever heard in your life?

It's a tie.

1) ""AN IT HARM NONE, DO WHAT YE WILL""

2) """No human being has imagination enough to conceive of this infinite horror. All that the human race has suffered in war and want, in pestilence and famine, in fire and flood, all the pangs and pains of every disease and every death, all of this is nothing compared with the agonies to be endured by one lost soul.
This is the consolation of the Christian religion. This is the justice of God the mercy of Christ.
This frightful dogma, this infinite lie.....
Nothing could add to the horror of hell, except the presence of its creator, God".________Robert Green Ingersoll, "Why I Am An Agnostic"

Well, there are too many quotes to mention here, but I'll give a few of them...

"A single blow must destroy the enemy... without regard of losses... a gigantic all-destroying blow."

"The man who has no sense of history, is like a man who has no ears or eyes."

"It is always more difficult to fight against faith than against knowledge."

"Great liars are also great magicians."

And I don't think I need to mention any names here...

Hello All!

There are so many verses & quotes that I truly love! The verse I lean on the most would be: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13
I recently started to lean on Isaiah 26 In all situations keep your focus on the Lord & not the situation & I will bring you to the other side.

Have a Blessed day!

I never said I spoke Latin. I took Latin a thousand years ago in Junior High School. I said the quote sounds better in Latin. There are certain phrases that just sound better in their native language. Some quotes just seem to lose a bit of their flavor when translated.
