well.. today is one of the BEST days of my life... because yesterday i pretty much almost died from a heart attack.

I was eating at a restaurant around 9am, and i had the waitress call 911.. an ambulance came within minutes and took me to ER.... The only way i can described what happened is a sudden racing of the my heart along with chest pains and light-headed symptoms. Now i have gotten a "rush" before.. but this went FAR beyond that... for every breath i took my heart was beating about 4-5 times... it felt like it was going to burst through my chest.

And the news? My heart is in good condition.. they dont know what happened.

ya know 23 year olds arent supposed to have heart troubles... but hey i guess not everything happens the way it is supposed to.

Maybe it was something you ate?
Different foods can cause bad reactions in some people. Just a thought.

Well.. there is a few background things that should be said...

1) i HAVE been sick over the past 4 weeks, i was probably going to go get my immune system checked anyway because i have been a freaking train wreck lately.

2) i almost passed out at work a few weeks ago. I was seeing spots and light headed all day....

3) I did drink some the night before and was crying... after that colts game. I have a bit of dementia when it comes to Colts football.

4) I do smoke and drink about 4 nights a week, although i did grow up straight edge, i have smoked for about 3 months and drank for the last few years.

But yes... i am just feeling lucky. My heart feels weak, like it could happen again at any minute if im not careful. I felt a few flutters last night after the whole episode earlier in the day...

To answer a few questions... i didnt eat anything really out of the ordinary.

And i didnt have ANY of the symptoms Red mentioned... although they DID somewhat give me a diagnosis... they called it "unspecific chest pain"....

I am confused, and just hoping it doesnt happen again.

I remember when I started smoking, sometimes I'd get dizzy spells. It was that nicotine I wasn't used to--after while, it stopped tho.
Maybe a few good night's sleep would help, and taking it easy.
Not going to tell you to quit smoking because I'm a smoker myself. We both know it's not good for us.
If these symptons continue I'd see a doctor. Maybe a good checkup and some r and r from work would work wonders!
Good luck and keep us posted.:)

PS Know what you mean about big games. Those can really take it out of you.

First of all, I'm glad you're alright. :) Did they do any blood work on you? I'm assuming they checked your thyroid so I'll eliminate that, but you might simply have a potassium deficiency. That can cause the rapid heartbeat and it can even cause flu-like symptoms, muscle weakness, etc.

Flashin before the eyes suggests a fast drop in blood pressure..........

Rendova mentions her dizzy spells after havin a ciggy used to happen to me......

Sounds daft,,but it would knock me out and id have to lie down .......

I'm glad to hear you're OK. Humans are complicated, and sometimes wind up not in working order for the strangest reasons. Unfortunately our bodies do not come with a warranty.

I have to agree with this, I have these on a regular basis. Racing heart numbness shortness of breath seeing spots hot flashes and sick to stomach, later also feel weak. These can be very scary and I was told will feel like a heart problem.

Make sure you seek professional help, and even though you've propably heard this, throw out the damn cig's. Or you could save time and gas money by just taking a dollar bill and lighting it:)

Decka, sounds like you should still have a stress test on your heart to completely eliminate a problem.

Heart attacks have different symptoms.

Mine, august was a year ago, started with what I thought was indigestion. I never had the arm or face pain most people have.
I actually went home and took a shower and changed clothes before it got severe enough to make me realize something had occured.
Then when I got to the hospital they had to work fast to save me.

They do not know why I had a heart attack. Before this my heart checked good and my cholesterol was low.

All hearts miss beats and such but we fail to notice until we become on the look out after a problem has occured.

Just be careful and aware.
Good luck.

Also remember to take an asprin if you think you have had a heart attack. It thins the blood to help circulation.
Hell, I took 3.

Man, i dont know what to say.

I had ANOTHER episode at work last night. I was in the side-station(me being a waiter).. and i just felt something wrong, i cant really describe it because its not a pain at first, just a feeling. Then what i felt was like my heart was congested, like something more was in there, and pushing outward. My heart began to pound and beat faster, not as fast as the first time. So i took a break, my manager and a couple other people helped me out big time making sure i was okay.

And then it came back.. .and this is the scary part. My ENTIRE RIGHT ARM went numb... and i know this is a sure-tail sign of a heart attack, and every 10 minutes id get a rush and my heart would go crazy. So i sat in the managers office for awhile. I breathed slowly and heavily for a bit, and it kind of went away. I dont know WHAT the hell is wrong with me, but hey it doesnt seem to be automatic death....

right now they have me on "baby asirin" for my heart...

You need to stop smoking and drinking immediate and indefinatly.

Not that you would mention it but if you are doing any illegal drugs they can account for this quite easily. My friends brother had about 15 heart attacks by the time he was 25 because of speed and coke.

Sorry about your medical difficulties Decka, perhaps you should consult your doctor about diet and exercise, get plenty of sleep this weekend, and attempt to stay off the booze, smoking, and fatty foods for as long as you can stand it. :D
Glad to hear you're doing better.

Damn!

I bet your experience had you reviewing your entire life and its priorities.

See a doctor, and I wish you the best of luck. The R&R is a good idea as well.
