Is the Sun white/Brighter/Hotter?
If you say yes, then comes the next questions, since when, by how much, and the 1 million dollar question y.
We will know ............when the data from the second probe comes back.
However ............in carbon age dating techniques .......the flux from the sun is considered a constant ......even though we know this probably is not a fact by our observations of it's surface.

Oh Lord.....
This thread makes my head hurt......
I do not know if it is hotter now, but I saw on the discovery channel that one day our sun will nova and grow so big that its outer limits will be somewhere around Saturn. Earth will be a crispy burned out thingy.

Thank goodness we will all be deceased by then.

If the sun grows beyond Saturn, presumably, Earth would be part of the sun.
Also, Sol is not big enough to supernova.

I wuz gonna ask is the sun hotter, 'n brighter than WHUH?
Schwarzenegger is the kinda start that's cooler than our sun, which DON'T mean if ya don't heat what he's sayin'...
...ya cain't git burned...

Well, if you want to get technical.
I know that Sol is supposed to be below the Chandeskhar level in mass. But, when it enters the red giant stage it should reach the earth orbit.
I have no idea how far it will push earth away at this stage, although I believe it (earth) would be a burned out cinder at this point.

What is this, a pop quiz?
Do I get a soda if I win?
Well .....my point was .....that we will never be able to quantify if the sun is more white ...or brighter or hotter .......unless we can get at least two data points by direct measurement.
Soooooooo .....you would need at least two probes to measure the ^ energy (delta, difference or change in energy).
The only algorithm that I know which would utilize the flux of the suns energy is ......is the algorithm used in age dating ............the example I used was for dating with C12/C13.
A constant for the flux of the sun is used in this calculation .....which I don't believe to be true (maybe over time it is fairly constant but we will not know till we quantify it).
I hope that is more clear now.
