i'm not sure, i had heard at one point it would be released next x-mas, but not i'm hearing the sprinc of 06

Bare in mind that Halo 3 is being released on the PS3 Launch day, that may give you more of an idea at a release date.

Is there going to be a crazy PS3 shortage like the XBox 360? My son really wants a PS3 but I am defineitly NOT going to camp out in front of Best Buy for one!

ITs dependant on area really. They will distribute to alot of places however they havent declared if they are doing a worldwide release or the usual Japan --> America ---> Europe release yet.

My advice to you would be to start making freinds with a shop clerk :) and ask them nicely to hold one back for you on release.
