Amidst the slew of movies arriving this season, the one with the largest budget and advertising blitz is Peter Jackson's rendition of King Kong. And to start out, I will specify that this movie is a "popcorn" movie.

Plot synopsis-
In the 1930s depression, an overly ambitious movie director, the crew and an innocent actress that he conned into making a movie, all set sail on a rickety ship to the mysterious Skull Island, when they arrive they meet natives and attempt to film a movie, but their plans fall to ruin when they encounter the enormous ape--Kong, who kidnaps the actress and the crew in turn sets out on the island to hunt the beast, encountering dinosaurs, large bugs, and a thick, dangerous jungle. But with this movie made over for the fourth time, I'm sure you are familiar with the story.

Comments on it-
Mr. Jackson has capitalized on his Lord of the Ring's success by getting produced his dream movie, King Kong. A big budget marvel loaded with scene after scene of intense CGI (computer generated imagery), plenty of action scenes to behold, and the tender love story with which to propel the movie.
It is far too long, running over 3 hours, as they work on a complex set of substories and characters that never develop and waste time. The movie itself is pure fantasy, some sequences have you scoffing at the unrealistic aspects, as well as the poor cast choices, and meandering script.
One thing it needed was quite a bit more humor to help lighten it, it was overly serious for long sessions, and the idea of the story is sort of lost in all the pretty knick knacks of the production.

This movie was made for the director, his boyhood fantasy. It is a trainwreck of storytelling and unintelligent blockbuster, but this movie is made for entertainment. If you manage to let go of your feelings, this childish fantasy offers plenty of thrills with its intensity, and the story will be more affecting.
See it if you wish, although its not recommended for everyone. This is the fourth dragging out of Kong, and the ape is tired.

Comment on it yourself :)
