Just to start off... from the skewed perspective it seems that bush's numbers have rebounded a bit.... he's "up" to 42%...

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=1390606

But then you take a look at the survey... and you'll find some interesting stats,

Once again, they skew the sample. 1% no response 8% independent 47% democrat and 44% republican overall. it breaks down into strong, or moderate. 18% strongly republican, 26% moderate, 20% strongly democrat, 27% moderate.

17% of the sample is unemployed, 13% only part time employed.

So 3% more dems were sampled than republicans, that might be worth "fixing" right there.

17% of the sample is unemployed. Is that representative of the nations unemployment rate? Coincidentally enough, 55% of the sample disapprove of the way bush is handling the economy.

64% complain the country is on the wrong track. 47% plus 17% equals....

Oh well... i guess its no suprise that the survey is tilted toward the left...

Me, I think the Repubs would have to pass a resolution to even have a prayer in 2006 and 2008. Well, either that or depend on Diebold again!

He gained only with white catholic males therefore it makes no difference who they polled.

He can never regain the trust he once had. As all proven liars find out, once integrity is gone ... it isn't coming back. No one believes a thing he says anymore -- that's all I need to know.

BTW: Here's the real numbers and notice FOX news is the ones that have him at 42 -- nearly everyone else has him at 40 or lower.

It may very well be closer to the ACTUAL percentage of unemployed people than the number the government officially reports.

The government has ways of twisting the true number so that it does not look as bad as it really is. And Bushco needs to use any way avaiable to try to paint a rosier picture than what exists.

""The measured unemployment rate of 5.9 percent isn't that high by
historical standards, but there's something funny about that number.
An unusually large number of people have given up looking for work, so
they are no longer counted as unemployed, and many of those who say
they have jobs seem to be only marginally employed.

In other words, the economy had deteriorated so much that a lot of people were not even trying to work anymore. In this view, there were a lot of "discouraged workers" whom a normal person would consider unemployed, but whom an economist would not count as part of the labor force when measuring the unemployment rate."

That only works if you assume that the 17% are all Republicans.

If they've given up looking, then how badly did they need work? Which isn't to say that I doubt that the number is unusually large historically speaking.
