T'was the night before Christmas, and thru-out this land,
Illegals were lurking, all just as they planned,
Vicente was scheming in this foxy lair,
In hopes that an amnesty soon would be there.
The Bushes were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Mexico danced in their heads.
The rest of the country was going to hell,
But what did it matter, the Bushes were well.

When out on the border, there arose such a clatter,
That the ranchers arose to see what was the matter!
Their fences were broken, no family pets spared,
They were being held hostage and nobody cared.

The light of the moon on the desert below,
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
And what to their wandering eyes should appear,
As then thousand invaders wreaked havoc and fear?

They murdered our children, and poisoned our pets,
They gang-raped our women and haven't stopped yet.
More rapid than eagles the border they crossed,
To some it appeared that our country was lost.

When a fine group of men came to answer the call,
While our government fails us, these men will stand tall.
I knew in a moment they must be the ones,
Who would fight and protect us till this war was won.

On Spencer, on Simcox, on Patriots true,
America's future's depending on you,
To the borders you flocked to defend this fair land
While our leaders do nothing but sit on their hands.

As they sprang into action, and went straight to work
To handle those duties our government shirks;
I heard them exclaim as they drove out of sight,
"The ranchers can sleep well, at least for tonight."

Last week here in the Klein School District ......an immigrant (the Houston Barnicle's term for an illegal alien) .....with six others in a work van ......broadsided a 16 year old kid going to school on his motorcycle ......killing the kid ............and .....then the van ran because they didn't have drivers licenses.

Virginia Garcia .....raped and stabbed to death in Austin, Texas ........by an illegal alien who was detained previously by the Austin police department. The rapist was not deported to Mexico because of the sanctuary city terms dictated to the police department by Austin city fathers.

The Mexican government isn't doing anything about it. In fact, some of the Mexican police are even in on the drug trafficking between countries. It's not just hardworking people, illegally crossing the borders; it's the violent gangs as well.

Nahhh, it's simply a matter of dollars. Many of them make U.S. money and then send it back to their relatives in Mexico where it goes a lot further. Industrialized nations open up factories in places like Mexico and take advantage of the cheap labour pool, paying them just enough to keep a roof over their heads and the most basic of essentials, so we can save a few cents and the companies save millions....not realizing that if they paid them a similar amount to what we make here, the companies would actually be building a very large pool of new customers that could actually afford to buy their products, just like we can.....thus, we might have to pay a few cents more but the companies would actually increase their profits eventually. To say nothing of the fact, illegal immigration would then cease to exist....why move to the U.S. if you can live in Mexico and make just as much money?

The ones coming illegally, are also on edge, worrying about getting caught and they're forced to live in squalor cause they can't afford nice neighbourhoods.....low income housing, increases gangs because in many cases, their only way up, is trafficking drugs or prostitutes.

About 15 years ago in Cincinnati some drunk American wiped out a church bus full of kids. What's your point - stuff like that happens regardless of race. Besides, wrong though it may be, an accident isn't quite the same as an intentional act like rape and murder.

If you want to live in a civilized society, laws have to be followed. When someone's very first involvement with your country, is breaking the laws you have in place, what does it teach them to let them away with it, or worse, reward them with amnesty? Besides, how long do you allow it to continue, before you do something about it? Let's say that every third world citizen (I hate the term third world but I'm using it for descriptive purposes) decides to illegally take up residence in the U.S.....it will break your economy, bankrupt your system, deplete your resources, overpopulate your land, stretch your emergency systems to the point of breaking.....essentially, the U.S. will be a third world country.

I suppose that depends on your definition of "secure", but you did hit on a truth when you mentioned a nation not being able to control ingress. That would be us. Our borders and coastlines are too long to patrol adequately using any practical methods. Part of our creed as a nation is welcoming those who wish to come here, not finding ways to stop them.

In my experience, most of the people who are for wasting our military forces keeping out immigrants (and they are almost always exclusively concerned with Mexican immigrants) are the same people that don't trust, dislike, fear and are threatened by minorities. Usually people on the low end of the economic scale and low end of the education scale. You compare the border of North and South Korea with the US/Canada/Mexico border and tell me I'm misinformed...LOL.

Some food for thought:

The North/South Korean border is 248 km long. There is no legal traffic between the two countries.

The US/Mexico border is 3141 km long.

The US/Mexico border is the most frequently crossed international border with 350 million legal crossings per year.

If you want to include Canada in your plan, add another 5061 km of border to defend, with 40% of that border being forested.

i would say the people who fear illegal aliens the most are the unemployed... and as i walk the streets of cleveland every day to work, i see 90% of those are african american. Just a fact from first hand experience....

so probably OTHER MINORITIES fear illegal aliens.

Assume that we do stop all illegal immigration to this country. The problems that would cause are interesting, and would cause a great deal of misery to many people. First, the cost of food would rise. No American would work for the wages that illegal migrants do. In order to get the crops picked, wages would have to be increased, which would lead to either farmers going bankrupt, or much higher prices for food.
A second issue is that many illegal immigrants have phony social security numbers, and pay taxes. Since they never file tax returns, they do not recieve their refunds. The government keeps the money. The same goes for social security taxes. The excess to the social security fund amounts to billions of dollars a year that will result in no liability to the fund in the future. If there are no illegal immigrants, that money will have to be made up elsewhere. I hope you like the tax increase.
Also the price for many other services that are provided mostly by immigrants will rise. For example, the cost of janitorial services. Businesses will pay those costs, but in order to remain competitive they will have to cut costs elsewhere. I predict pay cuts for the regular workers.
The cost increases in the construction industry will result in less new construction. More new facilities will be located overseas. That means less jobs here. That in turn means less tax money coming in. Tax increases again, or else large spending cuts.
Add to this the lost spending of money here for such items as rent, food, cars, and other sundry items that illegal immigrants buy. Less sales at your local stores will lead to layoffs there. Not all, or even most of the money earned here goes back to Mexico or other countries. Most is spent here in the local economy.
It is ridiculous to assume that ending illegal immigration will be a panacea. The side effects will be quite painful.

Most illegal immigrants do not pay social security taxes ....*L*. This is a myth which keeps coming up in newspaper articles ..........over and over ..........across this country.

One illegal immigrant obtains a social security number fraudulantly ......works as a contractor .......and .......hires all of his illegal alien buddies. You folks need to research this for yourselves.

And ........your analysis of businesses passing on increased costs .........is somewhat correct .....but ..........let me point out the fallacy in it.

Businesses operate in a market (just as American labor should be a fair, legal marketplace) ....they are not required to pass on additional costs .....and ........sometimes their product market will not allow them to pass on these costs. They will adjust their prices or become more productive in their business process.

And .......in your construction analogy .........can you imagine the increased cost to American tax payers when the new housing market turns down ......and .........all of the illegal aliens go to obtain more social services from the government .....??

Three fourths of the money earned by illegal aliens ...goes back to the country of their origins. For Mexico ......it currently is in the neighborhood of $30 billion dollars a year ........and .............is the number two entry in the budget for the Mexican Gross Domestic (it's not really domestic income at all) Product.

1. Last September Governor Mark R. Warner announced plans to get more children across the state to renew their health insurance coverage (FAMIS which is the state’s portion of Medicaid) with a new bi-language initiative aimed at informing recipients before their coverage expires.

2. Forty-one percent of the children enrolled in FAMIS and FAMIS Plus are (illegal) Hispanic.

3. Medicaid (Welfare) pays for 27,984 thousand children in the second richest county (Fairfax) in the country and 386,000 children in the state of Virginia are on Medicaid.

6. Arguably, over 50 percent of everyone in Virginia receiving Medicaid (Welfare) is an illegal or legal immigrant. This is true across the nation.

7. Medicaid is a welfare program, enacted as a safety net for the poor and indigent. But the program has grown to care for over 46 million Americans and now legal and illegal individuals at a cost of $338 billion, for FY 2006. PQ3. The state of Virginia will potentially be bankrupt on the Medicaid issue alone. I ask you, why does the Federal government promote giving welfare to non-United States citizens at the expense of the American middle class at the Federal, State, and Local levels?



LOCAL VIRGINIA ISSUES (not unique to the State of Virginia):

1. Gerry Connolly (D, VA) and other Democratic Fairfax County Leaders asked Virginia’s governor to amend a state bill so that localities would not have to verify that public assistance clients are legal residents. (Source: The Examiner, May 22, 2005)

2. Immigrant smuggling in Fairfax? Dozens of undocumented aliens were found after police stopped a van. The 11 released passengers were ordered to appear back at U.S. Immigration and Customs offices in D.C. on Thursday, for a final decision that could involve deportation. PQ4. Both local and state government elected officials use the Federal government as an excuse not to enforce the law, but will provide welfare payments, and most importantly do not round up illegal aliens, identify illegal aliens, nor put them in jail for breaking the law, allow them to attend school, receive Medicaid, receive food stamps, WIC, etc. Why does the Federal government not take pro-active steps to guard our boarders, refuse welfare payments to non-US citizens and deport existing illegal aliens?



PERSONAL LEVEL IMPACT (thousands of these stories are heard daily):


1. My wife is a nurse at a major hospital. Approximately a year ago they changed the way they evaluate the total paid time off (PTO) for nurses, they took part of it away because they are not making any money. They have too many patients that don’t pay their bills. Recently before a 12-hour shift she received a call from the hospital that she did not need to come to work today because they did not have enough patients. My wife is an employee, not a PRN. (on call nurse who could be cancelled)

Let me tell you why the hospital does not make any money:

a. Last fall Fairfax County Police brought in an illegal Hispanic gang member into the ICU because he was going through alcohol withdrawal. They picked him up because he did not go to his court appearance. I ask you the following, who is going to pay his bill? Why did our county ever let him out of jail? Why was he not turned over to the ICE for deportation?

b. Last summer, an Indian man (India) living in this country legally brought his mother over on a tourist visa and dropped his mother off at the hospital. The woman had cancer and he brought her in as a self-pay patient, which means NO PAY PATIENT! She was treated with chemotherapy and radiation and her son threatened to sue the hospital if they did not give her experimental drugs he found on the Internet. She eventually died after three weeks in the ICU. Who is going to pay this bill? It was probably into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and at the same time the hospital has to be concerned they may be sued by someone here illegally!

c. Last year an elderly Korean man was admitted to the ICU, thank GOD this was not my wife’s patient. The man had TB and ended up dying from it a couple of days later. Didn’t we eradicate TB 40 years ago? Would you want your wife exposed to TB? [As a note from this journalist--illegal alien migration has brought 16,000 new cases of tuberculosis into this country in the past five years and it is spreading because illegals work in fast-food, construction and they stand in line at the movies, grocery and retail stores. Their kids go to your kids’ schools. Thus, you and your family are at risk everywhere you go. The average illegal alien will infect from 10 to 50 Americans with TB depending on public contact.

A couple of years ago when the state was going through the budget crisis, the hospital management sent out letters to their employees asking them to contact their state representatives to make sure the state funds the MEDICAID (Welfare) portion of the total bill. If my wife used her hospital’s health care plan it would be so expensive she would not have any take home money, it would all go to pay the health care insurance, but it is fine for her hospital to tell her to have the state pay for someone else’s health care and at the same time raise her taxes and not want to pay her for her services as a nurse.

PQ5. (a) Do you think nurses play a vital role in our hospital system? (b) Do you think they should be paid? Do you think hospitals should continue to be looked upon as a non-profit organization in the way current management treats professional employees? (c) Hospitals located in the second richest county in America are going broke because of our immigration problem. (d) Why do we allow non-United States citizens to receive Medicare? (e) Why do we allow immigrants to come into the country with TB?

2. I work with an individual that provides contracting IT support to our organization. He is a legal immigrant from Guatemala. He has a sister that lives in Herndon that has three illegitimate children from three different men. His sister in law has five illegitimate children and a grand child.

3. I have a neighbor that employs a legal Hispanic woman to clean her house. She has even offered to help her become a citizen of the United States. She recently told my neighbor she has helped two of her daughters illegally enter the country and helped to enroll two of her grandchildren into the Alexandra school system. She also told her one of the daughters just recently got a job at International Pancakes. My neighbor asked surprisingly, she is illegal, how did she get the kids in school and get a job? She was told it was simple, she used her relative’s social security number and the school system does not check.

4. I work with an individual that just enrolled his son into Wakefield High School in Arlington County. He overheard the school nurse talking to a recent Pakistani immigrant and the topic of his status was mentioned. The nurse told him don’t worry about it, I will help you do the paperwork to get Medicaid.

5. My daughter is autistic and her school system does not have the funds to allow her and other children with autism or attention deficit disorders for special teaching needs to obtain proper instruction. The school system has a population of which many are illegal aliens. The schools need to offer instruction to these children in classes where English is taught as a second language.

6. My brother was involved in an motor vehicle accident that took his life. The other driver was borrowing a vehicle registered to someone else and living at the same address. This other driver ran from the scene of the accident and left the country because he was illegally in the United States.

In closing, Mr. President if we are really interested in Homeland Security, all forms of immigration need to be stopped immediately. Our current strategy will eventually implode all facets of our government at the Federal, State, and Local Levels. Most importantly it is the Federal Government’s job and responsibility to secure our borders and uphold the Constitution of the United States. I do not understand why our Federal government does not “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution reads, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion.”

Work with Congress to immediately stop all illegal immigration into our country.

It suprises me that illegal immigration is an issue that Bush will not touch, especially in his 2nd term where he doesn't have to worry about re-election. Although, I never understood why that would ever be a concern for Republicans since most illegal immigrants supposedly vote for Democrats. So why would the Republicans have to worry about alienating people who would vote against them anyway? It would actually help Republicans becuase, if they stopped illegal immigration wouldn't it reduce the amount of Democratic votes?
