I had to tell you.

I can't stand anymore seeing this picture :

It seems everytime Einstein is pictured, the poor od man has to be shown this way. Was he constantly showing is tongue ? Was he a dog or something like that ?

How do you feel about that very important issue ?

I shall proceed to research this aberrant phemonemon, scribe a thesis on the matter, and return before the next passing of the full moon.
OR, I could just state that people might find that picture of him sticking his tongue out adds a wild side to one of the great academics of all time. It adds a sense of realism to the man, and gives us a feeling of being "laid back", as well as makes us chuckle.
I rarely see that photo of him, except when used in a light-hearted poster or joking picture.

So astra, to help you sleep at night...here is a picture of Albert Einstein without him bearing his tongue in your general direction:

And a picture of Jedi Master Yoda for good measure:

I can't wait for your thesis.

I agree with your analysis of the reason why this pictue is so popular.
But it's ironical when you know its history. Actually, Einstein, who was fed up of being harassed by photographers at that time, once turned back at the camera and showed his tongue. His intent was not to look cool, it was an upset face !

Anyway, maybe in the USA this picture has not become the cliche it is now in France. But these lasts mons i've seen it several times, on magazine covers, and even on a picture for a science exhibition, showing Einstein making a chemistry manipulation with his "tongue face".
That was enough for me !
I decided I had to open the eyes of mankind about that insidious threat.

It is a riveting adventure of love, betrayal, war, money, lust, and mathematics through Albert's tastebuds...I've transformed it into a novel. :)
