The Seabourn Spirit had been bound for Kenya when it was attacked by pirates armed with grenade launchers and machine guns on Saturday about 100 miles (160 km) off Somalia's lawless coast.

5 guys in a motor boat? Are you serious? These weren't pirates and this wasn't a real attack. (not to say they might not be pirates but they certainly were trying to raid the ship, nor that it didn't happen but they certainly weren't trying to sink the ship)
1st they have no way to board. 2nd their boat looks small enough to be capsized by the wake of a cruise ship. 3rd they were shooting at the ship. Wouldn't it make more sense to try and get near the ship by faking a sinking then unveil the weapons?
This reeks of nothing more than fear mongering. I wouldn't doubt someone paid these guys a couple thousand just to take a pot shot or two to drum up some fear in Americans.
