Imagine one of these in every town, in the basement of the library.

Actually it ould be quite a significant achievement. It would make the world extremely close to eliminating class boundries.

Well, the first world, I doubt the third world has the resources to implement it on such a wide scale.

The first thing I'd have it do is duplicate itself so I could have one of my own.

I think you'd need an engineering degree.

Learning is good. It would mean mainly being able to follow a blueprint, albeit a complicated blueprint. Mostly it would be programming the machine to duplicate known parts, and then assembling them in the proper manner. It would not be necessary to design the machine from scratch. It would be more like building a computer from it's components, with the additional step of specifying to the machine what the design of the components is.

I'm having enough trouble building a home wet bar from plans I downloaded from the internet. Anything more complicated than that and I am lost.

Imagineer: It might well take you years, and you might not save any money if you were to botch too many parts. That said, it does seem like fun.

Frogger: You are using wood, right? Do you have all the tools you need, or are you borrowing them? Are you building the bar and the stools, as well as the shelves for the alcohol, and a hollow for a mini-fridge?
