Trav;

which of the following choices would you say best represents what is going on in this country with regard to *liberals*-------

a) all people (who Travh20 perceives to be) *liberal* are actively working to bring down America

b) a significant portion of the (people Travh20 perceives to be) *liberal* are actively working to bring down America

c) all those (who Travh20 perceives to be liberal) *liberals*, collectively, are bringing down America thru their efforts, but are stupidly unaware that they are bringing down America

d) a significant portion of the (who Travh20 perceives to be liberal) *liberals* are, collectively, bringing down America thru their efforts, but are stupidly unaware that they are bringing down America

Just curious. If you don't want to answer, or feel that none of the choices closely describes what the situation is, no problem.

Damn and right when you come back I see a post saying, well, nothing but fluff and things without any factual backing. Good job Trav.

And, just for a change of pace, Trav comes back and says something bad about the left wing members of Allforums!

Do you even know him?

No. He is in the infantry, is pro war, and posts pictures of himself in full battle gear holding an M-16.

If you dish it out...

I know nobody has fun killing people.

So did I. Air Force. You won't hear me denigrating a person for his military service.

It just blows my mind when I hear of a soldier that is actually for war. Which happened just about every damn day in that hellhole. Especially one that has had the pleasure of witnessing firsthand the ravages of war. A soldier who can look with disdain at a war protester is the biggest of hypocrites, in my oh-so-arrogant opinion. Only in America do we have such clueless, bloodthirsty idiots.

In America, we think war is a video game.

I would normally keep all this to myself, because I am sure Travh is a great guy, someone who would be fun to buy a few beers for in exchange for some war stories.

But this post set off my bullshit detector in a bad way. I just wouldn't be doing my civic duty if I didn't grill him on this. We are all on the same side here, and divisive shit like this just pisses me off.

That was a childish, mean-spirited and uncalled for statement.

Many of us who served in our nation's military don't love war but feel it is sometimes necessary.

Many of us have witnessed the ravages or war NB ... it's never pretty.

In Trav's case, if I may take a guess, he more than likely supports the war because he supports President Bush and this is President Bush's war.

I doubt Trav feels we should go to war just to kill some Arabs, notwithstanding there are people that champion that feeling on both sides.

just my 3 cents

this is President Bush's war.

That is a great reason NOT to support a war. Nobody supported World War 2 because it was Roosevelt's war. Hitler posed a grave threat to world order. Something Saddam never did.

All these new technologies are making killing people as easy as moving a joystick and pressing a button. The U.S. Military is pushing for UCAVs (unmanned combat airborne vehicles) for exactly that reason. It is a lot easier to rationalise killing a person if he is only an image on a video screen. The military and the idiots that run it (Congress and the upper class) won't have to deal with the psychological aspects of war for much longer. Troops won't need to take the torch to the village directly, he will just push a button, and boom, no more annoying civilians.

It won't be long until some knucklehead will have a nuke in a van & homicide bombs some far-away city. Far away from me anyway, I don't know about your town.

War isn't pleasant, yet it brings about the NIMBY in all of us. I'd much rather sit at a screen & take out targets than the way I experienced combat first hand.

The audacity of you to tell me when I favor going to war. For your information, I did not favor invading Iraq but now that we are there I do favor finishing the job.

Had this war been only for oil we would have been better served not going to war and simply lifting the embargo. Oil would have continued flowing and the price today would be much lower than it is.

I would like to see the U.S. drill in ANWAR. How do you feel about that, Freethinker? Should we drill in ANWAR?

Quite understandable. I don't know what we are going to do about the terror problem, but I am pretty sure that more war and more carnage won't do it.
