Michael Moore Owns Halliburton Stock
World Net Daily| November 2 2005
"I don't own a single share of stock!" filmmaker Michael Moore proudly proclaimed.
He's right. He doesn't own a single share. He owns tens of thousands of shares – including nearly 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 of Sonoco, more than 4,000 of Best Foods, more than 3,000 of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 of Bank One and more than 2,000 of Halliburton, the company most vilified by Moore in "Fahrenheit 9/11."
If you want to see Moore's own signed Schedule D declaring his capital gains and losses where his stock ownership is listed, it's emblazoned on the cover of Peter Schweizer's new book, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy."
And it's just one of the startling revelations by Schweizer, famous for his previous works, "Reagan's War" and "The Bushes."
Other examples:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who proclaims her support for unions, yet the luxury resort, the vineyard and the restaurants she partly owns are strictly non-union. While she advocates tough new laws enforcing environmental regulations on the private sector, the exclusive country club she partly owns failed to comply with existing environmental regulations for the past eight years – including a failure to protect endangered species.

MM is becoming more unbearable everytime you hear anything about him. I wish it was 1993 again and TV nation was his only notable peice. He was good then.
His criticism of Chomsky is BS and just an attempt to take a swipe at the unswipable.

Heh - that's pretty funny, 500. Michael Moore is a peckerheaded, baboon-fondling, jock strap-licking, dick-faced, fat boy cock jockey, and I like him more than Nancy Pelosi. Thanks for the laugh.

For a second there I though we were in the forum games insult section.

Moore --stock ownership notwithstanding-- is commendable for cutting thru the bullshit and giving the People the truth about what the extremely conservative leaders are doing to this nation, and how they're fucking it's eyes out.
I'd like to see him become a US Senator.
If he has criticized Chomsky, though, I would seriously take issue with him over that.
I'd like to see Chomsky (or Zinn, or Parenti, or Vidal) as President.

Me, too. There's only one difference though...
After he takes the oath of office, I'd like to see him executed like the ones in Rome were.

Wow Prae, Love it!
Well Michael Moore is the typical liberal rich man who likes to tell all the people that they are oppressed when in all reality they are not. Yet Moore himself is a stock owner and a partaker in all the things he says he is against.
What a piece of work. Though for those of us in the conservative camp, Tell us what we didnt know already.

Why not? Calligula made his horse a Roman Senator. Why shouldn't we make a horses's ass a U.S. Senator.

We already did that. We have Ted Kennedy.

Good analogy.
The government we have in the U.S. ---under the current crop of Conserva-fascists-- is about as insane and as corrupt and as devoid of humanity and compassion as Rome was under Caligula.

Is this the same Chomsky who criticizes the Pentagon and then accepts the Pentagon's money? Are we talking about the same hypocrite?

I don't know.
What would the Pentagon have given Chomsky money for?
(BTW.....the Chomsky I am speaking of is named *Noam*.)

Wouldn't that mean that Chomsky is an even better person? He's taking money that would otherwise be used to kill people.
You hypocrite argument is weak.

Chomsky decries the concept of private property yet owns how many houses?
Has Chomsky created an irrevocable trust to avoid taxes?
Wasn't it on the basis of a Pentagon grant that enabled him to write his first book?
Does the man have any principles or is it all just a con for gullible loonies?

Okay - point taken. I imagine if he said it - it has to be somewhat true, for who comes onto a forum and posts something they don't know, or at least feel fairly certain about.
Did the pentagon give him a grant to write his first book, and if so, then why?

You asked and i am happy to oblige.
Chomsky's first book, Syntactic Structures, was written with the assistance of grants from the U.S. Army (Signal Corps), the air force (Office of Scientific Research, Air Research, and Development Command), and the Office of Naval Research.
His second book, Aspects of the Theory of Syntax, was produced with money from the Joint Services Electronic Program (U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force) as well as the U.S. Air Force Electronic Systems Division.
Chomsky's first job when he joined MIT was working for the Research Laboratory of Electronics, which was funded entirely by the Pentagon and a few multinational corporations.

They paid him for his expertise in linguistics, not his politics.
If I found a fantastic baker who hated the NRA, would I be supporting her hatred of the organization if I purchased a cake from her?
What she does on her free time is her business, however Waldo make a decent point: if she detests everything the NRA stands for, then morally speaking, how is she able to sell them something in good conscience? If you're a person with lofty principles, then that notion serves as somewhat of a contradiction, doesn't it?

Hard to imagine Parenti as a politician! Gore Vidal I could see, Zinn not at all.

Why? He's a scientist. That's how the US operates, technology and innovations come from governement funding.
This isn't exactly a secret. He said so himself once that he is basically employed by the military industrial complex.
I'd like to add that Chomsky is widely discredited since he endorsed Kerry. He's great at documenting imperialism and the filtres in the media, but he's clueless in many ways.

The less they seem to have the capability of filling the role of politician, the better they would be ---IMO-- at governance.
Vidal ran for office a couple of times.....so he does seem to fit the mold of politician.....EXCEPT that Vidal is unrelentingly rational and reasoned; which is the antithesis of most of the pols currently in charge of running the country.

Well, I've googled some of the stuff in F 9/11 and it's true!! :@@:
How can that be????
The Israelites killed their prophets too! I think they laffed at Jeremiah!;)
But MM can't be a prophet - I don't think he believes in God. He's probably just a rumormonger.
