I support Americans in their distrust to Turkish friendship. Recently National Security Council of Turkey had passed law of Consolidation of Armed Forces Significance in the country. What do they need further strengthening of their military forces for? Turkish army is already one of the most multitudinous and well-armed in NATO.
I only can think of Turkish preparations for some military operations. Always sticking point was largest and unruliest ethnic minority of Turkey. These are Kurds living at the borders of Syria, Iran and Iraq. At the moment Iraqi Kurds are on the edge of Kurd state forming. If Iraqi referendum results would come into force Turkey would invade upon Iraqi Kurdistan territory.
By the way lately IMF representatives had visited Turkey with inspection tour and detected cost overturn for war needs. It seems to me that Turkey has wide-ranging military schemes and raises big army for invasion despite all agreements with USA and assurances of eternal friendship and alliance.
