i would create a new thread for this but phuck it , no....

a study by the institute for policy studies notes that if the minimum wage had grown at the same rate as executive pay has over the last decade, it would be $25.50 per hour. (2001)

yes, i know, if that was the case prices of goods and services would have grown a lot too. but that is just blaming the poor man , working poor, for high prices. executives gets HUGE pay raises, , bonuses, and stock options, etc. every year. why doesn't prices rise with them?

bend over poor man, the rich mans gonna drill ya. and without the benefit of lube.

executives get a pay hike and poor people get the shaft.

poor people get a pay hike and still get shafted.

I think what you're missing here Ivan is that so many conservative-thinking people in America have been brainwashed into such a thoroughly pro-Corporate, anti-populist mindset that they are completely SUPPORTIVE of the fact that executives get massive pay rasies while poor to milddle class working people get --in terms of constant dollars-- less and less.

They do not try to dispute what you say because they reconize it as true and they like it that way.

You must relegate yourself to the fact that you live in a world where many people's minds have been twisted to the degree that the **rich-getting-richer while the poor-getting-poorer** is considered (by them) to be the natural order of things.

and that makes me sick. poor people LET the rich phuck them. they don't and won't DO anything.
not everyone can be an astronaut, corporate exec, or even an electrician. society as a whole needs to stop punishing the poor just for being poor. life is hard enough as it is.

I agree.

And IF the political system in the US were to do a 180 degree reversal, and move from the far right end of the scale (ConservaFascism) toward the left end of the scale (Democratic Socialism), I think you'd see the type of *punishment of poor people* that you're talking about come to an abrupt end.

But I hold no illusion that that will happen.

agreed. the entire system , no matter who runs it is devised to keep a certain percentage of people at the bottom. for the rich or priviledged ,the more the better.

What Marx dubbed the reserve army of the unemployed.

I don't think that's what he meant, FT.

His comment was in response to Deepest Red's. You have to admit, referencing a quote from Karl Marx made it a ripe target.
