I've watched marathon TV programs for years. Recently I noticed that the problem that design of marathon courses was not good. Some courses were full of twists and turns, and looked like mazes. Some were on the slippery stone pavement where runners seemed to be hard to run.
For the reason that organizers give priority to the purposes to show the audience places of scenic beauty and historic interest in the region where a marathon meet is held, and to make a meet a sideshow, that matter arises. That is to say, they're apt to fumble with courses deliberately that courses connect those wonderful places. It's putting the cart before the horse. In fact, everyone must be interested in just the race rather than sights.
Now, I'd like to emphasize that above all we should think much of the condition that runners are easy to run on designing courses.
If your friend is an organizer of a marathon meet, tell him my opinion, please.
Watching the World Cup of football on TV, I felt a question keenly. There were a lot of misjudgements nonprofessionals could find at sight as well. About this question only referees should not be accused. I suppose the number of referees in a game isn't enough.
Human ability is, you know, essentially limited, so it's difficult for just one referee and two line's men to watch everywhere in a large playground, and there may be a deadangle.
Thus, more two sub-referees are necessary, I guess. As a matter of course, I hope for fair matches.
If your friend is an ecxec of the FIFA or the IOC, tell my insistence.
