Look for books by Alan Geoffrey Yates who wrote under the pen name Carter Brown. His books were written in the fifties and are a mixture of sex and murder written without pretension. I used to read them when I was in the army.

That is loaded with all manner of drugs, an eccentric child killer/slave owner, and much to be disturbed by in other fields...
