My monitor develops a twitch after the computer's been on for awhile...it's starting to affect my eyesight I think...:@@:

buy a new one....make sure magnets are away from it, fyi: speakers have magnets so dont sit them on top or right next to it...also i've found that my cell phone makes my monitor twitch sometimes...so anything can cause inteference...if none of that works then buy a new one as previously stated...lol

Does the monitor have a degauss button? That might fix it (if it's a magnetic interference problem). I forgot about the cell phone thing - I had a Nextel phone that would make the monitor flip out.

It's a fairly new monitor...4 months old...it's a Acer AL1912,19" LCD...could it have anything to do with the video card running hot?

After the computer has been on for a while? Hmm...graphics card issue? Overheating, perhaps? Hmm...Do other monitors exhibit the same behavior if hooked up to the computer for the same length of time? Does that monitor exhibit the same behavior on other computers? Does turning off and on the monitor fix it? Is your cell phone near your monitor? How old is the monitor? Is it a CRT or LCD? Size? Brand?
EDIT: Wow, half of my questions were answered mere seconds before I asked them.

most LCDs dont twitch as often as CRTs...it very easily could be the video card...are you overclocking it or something? why is it hot?

Remove any nearby speakers too. by the way, some general guidelines on display problems can be found here => http://pcproblems.afraid.org/hardware/hardwareproblems/nodisplay.php

My experiences with electro-mechanical interference ... usually the interferrence is seen in the mouse before the monitor.
Are you sure all your display settings are correct ... control panel > display > settings ... you know the drill.
Did you need to load a driver with that new monitor? Maybe update the driver?
Just some thoughts

I have this problem with the acer AL1914 too. I just bought it today.
It seems if I move the VGA cable further from the wall the twitching goes away.
Still trying to find out more right now, however I might be taking this one back.

Could be VGA cable, but I doubt it. Prolly a bad monitor.

I stumbled around in display properties, settings, advanced, troubleshoot (the troubleshoot tab next to monitor, and unchecked the enable write combining checkbox. Cleared it up.
I have an nVidia card, maybe it's a custom window, I don't know.

Sounds like a refresh problem.......
Either that or try degauss, may work..
