It's an interesting story. Actually, I had read it before, but it's still gripping.

There were very few, if any multiple story barraks in 'Nam. Also, most everyone was issued the M-16 rifle ... the M-14 being saved for Basic Trainees & snipers. My basic training unit at Ft. Jackson in mid 1968 was amoung the last to use the M-14. Also, the Air Force has Security Police, not MP's.

Funny as this may seem, I was thinking the same thing. I knew M-14's were reserved for basic training, and I thought it was odd that they'd be using them overseas. I'm somewhat of a gun buff, so I'd heard that before, but as Vile said, thanks for the info anyway, Es.
