Hurricane Katrina ran through Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.
It left tragedy and horror behind.
President Bush flew over the disaster area.
He flew in at a very high altitude.
He said, "It's totally wiped out. ... It's devastating, it's got to be doubly devastating on the ground."
His next action as Commander-in-Chief was to appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" to discuss the tragedy and recovery efforts.
Not long ago he said, ‘I am optimistic that we can change the tone in Washington, D.C."
What tone was he talking about?
The other day George Will wrote in the Washington Post about the ‘shrill’ voice of the Democratic Party. It seems people like George Will, were under the impression that George Bush intended to lower the tone. George Will has offered little in the form of news for some time - he’s Rush Limbaugh with a typewriter.
Bush was born with a silver spoon in his mouth though. Americans didn’t notice this one came with a top hat and cane.
Bush is what is known as high toned. That is, for all of you high-brow conservatives, affectedly stylish or genteel.
For everybody else we get an idea of what high-toned is from Hank Williams (Sr). from his song ‘Mind Your Own Business’.
‘Mindin' other people's business seems to be high-toned, I got all that I can do just to mind my own. Why don't you mind your own business. If you mind your own business, you'll stay busy all the time.’

Thanks for a paragraph of intangible generalities. I'm sorry you don't like his voice. If you have a specific suggestion about what he should be doing in New Orleans (personally patrolling the streets, filling sandbags, biting his lower lip, etc) let's hear them.

Freethinker doesn't like southern accents. Would that be a valid criticism of Presidents Carter and Clinton?

What has any recent President done during time of National Emergency? Make some comments, make a few appearances, and stay the hell out of the way while the folks that need to work can do so unimpeded by the 3 ring circus of security surrounding them.

You forgot vacationing, pretending to play the guitar and playing golf.

This gets very, very wearing after a while. A hurricane just absolutely ripped New Orleans to shreds, and you've got the 2 inch crowd here making snide remarks about what Bush didn't do, hasn't done, ain't going to do, blah, blah, blah.

It's a natural disaster, guys, ain't much Bush can do about it, whether or not on vacation.

these people are obsessed with bush, and I mean obsessed. It is unatural I tell you. to look at EVERY FUCKING THING through the prism of "how was bush involved" and "how can I implicate Bush" is just unnatural. Before this hurricaine I thought it was possible, however slight, taht the 500lbguerillas and Freethinkers fo the world actually felt pitty for the dead americans and not just use them as a tool to get to bush, but now I know better. If they can tke a hurricaine that wipes out 3 states and automatically go for the kill on bush they are whacked

Don't worry. Great Britain and Germany are on the way. They will do what President Bush could not - help and protect American people.

It's disgusting.
