To go foward on a segway you have to lean your weight forward, making it easy to fall if you overdo it, and if going at an angle up/down steep elevation it would be even easy for neophyte drivers to fall.
Turning can prove a bit dangerous, i swerved to miss a pole and ended up on my rear end. But you get the hold of it quick.
It's better than walking but a bit pricy at about 3k $$$, stick to bikes, easier, (can be) faster, cheaper, and less to worry about if it is lost or damaged or stolen.
