It's 9.47...10 minutes till the Simpsons come on...so I'm just gonna write a post.

Well, today in 1st hour band, our teacher called out about....1/3 of the class out. He and the students came back in, and he told us what it was all about. Apparently, the people he called out have either a D or an F in one of their classes. Not just band, but whichever. You know what that means?

No marching at the football game on Friday!

Is that just fucked or what? If that 1/3 or part of that 1/3 doesn't raise their grade from an F to a D (the D guys were just warned), then they can't march on Friday. That would seriously SUCK. (no I wasn't one of them. I currently have A's right now =D)

DUUUUUDE....I can't believe my band teacher scheduled a rehearsal on LABOR DAY WEEKEND! I have one Saturday from 8-12...how Screwed up is that? Seriously, now my weekend plans are cancelled. God, I am SO not doing this next year...

There was no marching preformance at our game this past Friday..because the field was wet...I am fairly confident Katrina will screw us out of a show this week.

I meant funny as in "akward," not "laughable." Jelly doughnut's are bad for you...they have much-o sugar in them.

Border Patrol Chopper Downed By Rock-Throwing Immigrants

YUMA, Ariz. -- It could make aviation history: a helicopter downed by rock-throwing illegal immigrants just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

It was a close call for the Border Patrol pilot and an observer.

The A-Star helicopter was in California, several miles west of Yuma, Ariz., when a group of immigrants began throwing rocks at the aircraft. A Border Patrol spokesman said one baseball-sized rock gashed the rotor, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing. No one was injured.

After the incident on Tuesday, 17 people were arrested for illegally crossing the border, and two of them were being investigated for smuggling. Ten others escaped.

The Simpsons reigns as winner in this bout.

Why?

The Simpsons is more than a comedy, it is a show that is elaborately plotted discussing many social, political, and religious subjects within its plots. It can be viewed by most of the family, younger children either need not hear certain things coming from the show, or the genius is lost on them. It became popular because of this, wide appeal, and intelligent plots with humor that works on different levels. Slapstick and stupid humor, while also clever allusions and pokes at modern life. Laced with dozens of important characters that are sometimes the focus, not some forgettable persona thrown in for a quick laugh. It stays up to date with the times but has remained a timeless classic that keeps getting introduced year after year to another wave of people.

I can see the brainstorming sessions for family guy, they take place in the cellar of Seth McFarlane's house playing poker and drinking down enough Sam Adams that they cannot focus on the game. While writing the script, in their inebriated state they say whatever comes to mind and throw it in. It goes out on many random and vulgar limbs that often go to far, and its characters and plot fade in the background of importance, foregoing those in order to focus on pranks and sex jokes of the lovable, but also loathable oaf Peter.

The Simpsons functions as a social commentary with multiple levels of humor and appropriateness for all. Many endearing characters and longevity in its elaborate plots, this show has proved to be one of the best, if not the best, to ever be put on television. Family Guy's wild tangents of crude humor and offensive behavior with pointless characters, does not earn it a place on the hall of fame of all time, although it can provide a good chuckle (In short, some episodes are a scream).

But in the end it is all up to personal taste. You decide that for yourself

I find that Family Guy actually makes me laugh where as the Simpsons is just a slight smile.

Family Guy is a raucous, very funny in certain episodes. Notice i cited that the Simpsons was better overall, while not mentioning humor (although i do believe simpsons is more clever and humorous).

Perhaps this appeal is a result of you growing up on much more British humor, because the Simpsons likens itself towards the American culture. Going out on bizarre, nonsensical tangents and stupid characters for humorous effect, sometimes slapstick, other times just awkward, would lead to more of a taste of Family Guy.
