View Full Version : We're not in Iraq for oil

about all of the constant speculation by liberals on this board (without any backing i might add) that we went to Iraq for oil....
1. Iraq is only 4% of a world oil source.... and there are MANY other countries that have a more enticing oil supply... like saudi arabia.
2. Saddam no doubt would have LOVED to sell us oil, hell we were BOYCOTTING oil from Iraq! The oil supply has gone DOWN since we went to iraq. going to Iraq has done nothing but made Iraq oil more inaccessible.
So much for that theory.

Ahh, you mean the country that owns a large part of our economy? Oh yeah, them...don't make me laugh, Decka. We have far too much money invested in the Saudis. Not to mention...
Size of Saudi Arabia: 1,960,582 sq km
Size of Iraq: 437,072 sq km
Yeah, we can just occupy a nation that is more then double the size of Iraq. Yeah, makes sense (even though we don't have enough troop for Iraq) Not to mention, my bet is that Saudi Arabia has a much better military then Iraq did.
What other nations have a larger supply? If I'm not mistaken Iraq is 2nd or 3rd on the list.

Hmmm, I'll reply to this once you offer proof.

you couldnt be dumber. how dare you make a statemnent that YOU cant even back up. you can only speculate and hope that "ole gw" isnt crooked enough to do that ! thats all you have. so you are no more right than we are......us "LIBERALS". it must just make you feel real good to belong huh ? you have to feel that you are in the smart club and we are just a bunch of idiots. but the fact remains you are not in the loop. the loop where people are reaping trillions of dollars from this war. companies that were in the red and ready to fold are making record breaking profits. no one talks about the impropriety of halliburton....noooooo, there's nothing fishy here....there is a fifty\fifty chance that YOU are wrong, and you are helping the RAPING of americans by a greedy admin, just by being their puppet and doing their bidding ! keep up the fight "ole smart one". we dummies will just sit here and pay high ass gas prices that you claim are because of india and china, but production only went up 2% since they got in the program......could this be gouging in the name of record profits ? if i say yes, i only have the 50\50 chance of being wrong, but so do you if you say no !

Iraq possesses enormous oil reserves, estimated at more than 112 billion barrels,
.........which account for 25% of the world's known reserves........it possesses the world’s second largest proven oil reserve.

Ummm....:lolhit:
Iraq possesses enormous oil reserves
Indeed, if i recall it was even more than the number you gave
PS- BBC is the perhaps the most crooked, leftie news organization i've had the displeasure of experiencing, not going to trust them about anything but children's programming and excellent british humor shows.
we dummies will just sit here and pay high ass gas prices
Okay, sounds good, go ahead and do that. If we "went into iraq for oil because of a greedy administration that is raping us" then why do the gas prices continue to rise?

If you don't believe that there's price gouging at the pump, then read this chatter between the CEOs of BP & Amoco, intercepted just days before their merger a few years back:
BP guy: "I say, old bean, now that we're partners we can bugger the Yanks the same as we've been doing it to our consumers for years! We'll create a sham shortage, then hike prices dramatically and tell the gullible public we had to raise them to slow consumption. It won't cool demand, and our profit will increase exponentially!
Oh, a few families will have to scale back on food and milk for the little ones, but BOLLOCKS to 'em because our millionaire shareholders will love us! Pip pip, Bob's yer uncle."
Amoco guy: "Brilliant! All we need to do is, through my trilateral commission, have the media back us up, and pretty soon the pharmcos will bow to us as the world's greatest and greediest company! What's President Dunce Armstrong gonna do, make US sacrifice?"
Both: "AAAAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!
The above exchange is true. How did I get the tape? I have my sources. I'll never reveal them.
HEY! WHO ARE YOU??? UNHAND ME! HELP ME!!! HEL.........

Man, when you talk about yourself be sure to spell correctly
it is documented that china and india only brought production up 2%
China is exploding with growth, while india continues to just chug slowly up. Heck, for example: 5,000 new buildings (all 40 stories or over) have been commissioned in China, there is a steel shortage because of this massive productivity. They are growing exponentially, industries are being drained heavily.
greedy people care for no one but themselves
So you're saying that Bush is being greedy and hoarding oil and money for himself? Yea, im sure those millions of barrels are in his Crawford cellar right now just waiting to be used on his new sedan.
no news organization is valid if it says something bad about bush or this war huh ?
I never made such claims, but indeed BBC is not to be a trusted news source, when talking about Bush or not.
Overall, you are a mindless drone who continues marching on in the lifeless parade of liberal doctrine, tossing out insult or illogic at those who have opposing viewpoints. It makes for a quick chuckle.

It reminds me of the way that you keep mindlessly spewing --without one shred of proof offered to bolster your claim-- the dogma that.... "Oh, the BBC is dishonest, the BBC cannot be trusted".
The BBC is one of a very small number of news outlets remaining that CAN be trusted to give the cold hard facts and to not simply regurgitate the viewpoint that the ruling political regime tells them to broadcast to the sheep.

Decka - you've got me wondering. ..You say Bush is not the greatest but you seem to support his every action. What do think Bush has really done well? What has he truly excelled at? I really can't think of anything at all but you must have some ideas? I am sure you are not so shallow as to never seem to bring up issues with him as others here do simply because he is a republican. He must have been extraordinary in some way for you to always seem to come to his defense. What is it? The republicans control at least two of the branches of government, and have for years now, so he really should be able to hit many home runs. I really would like to know. How has your life improved so under his watch? I don't know about you but my taxes have gone thru the roof. With this deficit, I imagine that they will go higher still. Government is huge right now so that can't be it. I doubt it is his rock solid defense of personal freedom, something I would imagine all republicans would be united about since that is what makes us superior in many ways to most of the other countries of the world. We seem bogged down in a war for freedom after not finding any of the WMD's that they had photographic proof existed. I wonder how you would feel if a democrat had done the same and seriously underestimated the strength of the resistance, the same resistance that many people of a different ideology predicted and were ignored. What if a democrat refused to listen to his generals and only committed about 1/4 of the troops that the generals requested to effectively accomplish the mission? Your support surely can't be due to the fact that he caught the man responsible for the worst act of terrorism on US soil, or is it? I can't imagine that you think that his current state of positive relations around the world is at an all time high for America. Or the way he unites all Americans for that matter. Perhaps it is the way he strongly and robustly denied The Downing Street memo as a fake, even though our closet ally, Tony Blair, confirmed it. That shows confidence in the face of adversity even if it is the truth. That might be all it is but I keep thinking there must be more to it than that.
I rack my brain but I still can't come up with any reasons for your undying support. He certainly wasn't a war hero and his offshore oil company to avoid paying taxes or his DWI can't impress you so, can they? Pro-lifers must have some issues with his support for the Death Penalty I would imagine unless they truly believe that all convicts are guilty and that whole "thou shalt not kill" commandment is really bullshit. Maybe it was simply his reference to Jesus that struck a nerve and endeared him so to you. I can only guess. Also, if you think he has some weakness, I would be curious as to what you think they are.

If we were truly trying to remove WMD from axis of evil countries, we would have invaded Korea.
If we were really tryng to bring democracy to people under a dictator we would have invaded some of the African countries that are even worse than Sadamn ever was.
But alas, Iraq is were the oil is and Sadamn insulted daddy. And on top of it all they aren't a christian country.
1+1+1=3 very simple.

Echo - I know where you stand but I really am puzzled by his supporters. With all that appears to be going wrong, they still seem to be willing to "stay the course" with this man both his domestic and foreign policies. I would just like to know why. As I stated above, I would hope the reasons are not so shallow as to the simple fact that he is a member of the republican party. Perhaps they are. I really can't figure it out. I am looking for something of substance here. I would hope it would be enlightening but this may or may not be the case.

These are some very interesting points. I believe that if the shoe was on the other foot, these same supporters would be calling for his head. But, if they really think Bush is doing a great job as president and would support him with as much vigor even if he were a democrat, I want to hear why from them. So far I have only heard from Trav. He said that there are less dead from fighting the Iraqis than the Industrial German war machine in WWII so he gives the president "props". I find this to be a weak argument at best but at least he responded so I will give him credit. I really want to hear from some of the others like Decka and Prea.

Okay okay, i have ALOT to answer to here....
First off, let me repost what Mr. Bush said...
'If Zarqawi and [Osama] bin Laden gain control of Iraq, they would create a new training ground for future terrorist attacks," Bush said. ''They'd seize oil fields to fund their ambitions. They could recruit more terrorists by claiming a historic victory over the United States and our coalition."
Okay, i noticed first off that alot of the reaction from you guys who are trying to wipe this in my face are based on assumptions. NOWHERE does the Pres say that WE must take the Iraqi oil fields... he only hints that we cannot allow THEM to have access to them.
That is a HUGE difference...
and that is something i agree with, we don't need terrorists bankrolled by Iraqi oil fields...
Anything else that you guys say is pretty much just a theory.... and while it may be true, or false.... i can't use it as fact just yet like you guys do.
So yea 500 i wouldnt say im "full of shit" just yet... of the two of us i'd say you have a little more feces within your body because of how much assumption you take as fact.
