So, apparently, those genius Hollywood execs, have decided to make a sequel to the wildy successful "Transporter".......and this time, give it the very trendy title, "Transporter 2"

Which got me thinking............what sequals were just never needed and should have never been made.

Oh, and feel free to quote sequals (prequels) that are in the works or rumored to be being made.

A short list of the top of my head would have to include: Seriously Dude, Where's My Car (rumored), Anacondas, Grumpier Old Men, Dumb and Dumberer, and Flinstones Viva Rock Vegas.

Gladiator 2 (rumored, but please oh please be false) Matrix reloaded/revolutions, ill think of others in a bit

Do you know a premise for Gladiator 2? I read a few years back that it would be set sometime in the several decades that followed the original.

Namely, because they couldnt land Crowe for a return.

Unless the sequels/prequels are planned ahead of time and incorporate into the first as part of the story, they are unecessary (and just after money).

A sequel is just after money, or else it wouldnt be made.

No film studio is going to develop a Seriously, Dude Where's My Car in hopes of scoring a Best Picture Nod at the Oscars.

Well, not always the case. Granted that movies are after money, but take LOTR for instance, that all tied together as a serial movie chain. They didn't make subsequent films just for money, it was for the story (and they got alot of awards too ;)).
Godfather 2 could or could not have been made, the end of number 1 left it open/shut. But the studio dragged out its rep picture in hopes of garnering themselves more attention (but, yes, money was an issue)

LOTR was a sure fire blockbuster anyway though....and they all sucked.

Species 2 & 3,
Ghostbusters 2 & 3
All the Disney straight to DVD sequels, mainly Mulan 2.
All the Alien sequels.

Ghostbustsers 2 was one of the greatest forgotten sequels ever! Then again, I was obsessed with them when I was younger.

Buy anyway, my list includes dumb and dumberer, matrix 2/3, Scream 2/3, AVP.

AvP was good IMO, it explained why the Predators were on earth in the first place and tied the two pretty well. Good Action romp and really its not a sequel passe.

Not a sequel, true...but I still didn't find much to look at in the movie. Hell, I hardly paid attention to it.

Most sequels suck...Although I did enjoy Ghostbusters 2...I thought that was great.

But WTF is up with the Transporter 2? The first looked stupid...did anyone even watch it??

Geesh, what a waist of time and energy!

The transporter only pissed me off because if youve seen Snatch then youll know he is the fucking don and he went and did some weird shit accent like he is trying to be american. If the Director had any sense at all he would have adapted "slightly" the character Turkish from Snatch and implemented the Wit etc to great effect, In fact even better have Turkish and Tommy leave Britain and thus they get entangled in the Transporter Storyline as a way to make money.....

But they didnt, and thus it sucked.

They will no doubt make him use that god awful half breed accent and thus ruin the film completely.

What? I thought the first seguel to Alien was great. Aliens is one of the few sequals I've ever liked. Terminator 2 was also good.

I seldom go to see seguels because 99% of the time they SUCK!

Theres gonna be a Shrek 3 and 4 and although i liked the second film they really should have left it at what worked and not take the chance to ruin a good couple of movies.

You really should know by now that Hollywood sees things the opposite way (Lets leave it alone while it is still good, is not in their vocabulary)

Ghosterbusters 2 is a great film....I wasn't aware there was a third though.

And Shrek can be redone because they have so much they can work with (there are hundreds of kids stories they could use)

There never was a Ghostbusters 3, but there was another cartoon series (besides "The Real Ghostbusters") called "Extreme Ghostbusters."

I didn't really enjoy Shrek 2 as much as I liked Shrek the original.

The Ring 2 was a TOTALLY uncalled for sequel. Seriously, that whore Samara kept popping up everywhere, ANYONE could have outrun her...and she wouldn't shut up either! She kept saying "I found you! roar!" She made the Alien's "UURRRRRRRGHHH AHHHHHHH" sound much more appealing.

Halloween 4, 5, 6, and H20 sucked. Somehow I liked 2 and Resurrection...heh...

Ah, Halloween 5 was the best.

ugh God that girl wouldn't stop SCREAMING I felt like shoving her into a machete...or was that in 4? Wait...I think it was 4...yeah...4 was the one where everything happens in the house..then the school..then the road, correct?

And so then in 5 everything happens at that farmhouse party..then the forest....and then they do part 6 and then they do part 7 and say "It never happened!" God what a bunch of *icks.

After seeing 4 (which I believe you were right about the screaming girl in that one), I just stopped caring. So i've never seen 5, 6, or H20.

Star Wars 1,2,3.
So disappointing and boring.

Evakian
08-25-2005, 06:18 AM
Disappointing because they did not follow the same formula as the old movies, instead going for its own new take? Boring because it is loaded with epic sword duels, dogfights, and land battles?

However not truly necessary, they were part of the essential plot, which is- the life and times of Anakin Skywalker- Lucas planned to make the from the beginning and the public screamed for them, and so they were made.

Star Wars Episodes 1, 2, and 3 were great! (minus that horrible Jar-Jar Binks thing)...I thought they did a really good job telling the story of how Anakin went from child to Darth Vadar...and they tied it all into the original 3 'episodes'. I didn't see one thing left un-done.

Haven't seen much of the Star Wars films apart from 2 and 3.
I thought they were good coming from a person who wasn't greatly interested in the overall story and so just watchd it for the battle scenes which were pretty good overall.

Every single person who went to see Starwars episode 4 when it was released id imagine.

heh, i was referring more to if they saw Empire Strikes Back and not A New Hope, or The Two Towers but not Fellowship/ring, or Terminator 2 but not terminator 1.

Besides, episode four was an expositionary piece (it was very much a crucible, and it was referred to as Star Wars, not Star Wars: Episode 4, a New Hope, until the special edition

Disappointing because they didn't have a formula of their own. It was nothing more than the standard action/sci-fi formula created in the 80s and 90s. The original movies were absolutely nothing similar. I understand that they had to be more violent than the the original series, considering he had to kill off every Jedi but two, but it didn't have to go ACTION! Boring dialogue. ACTION! Boring dialogue. ACTION! Moronic love scene. ACTION!
The most dissapointing part would be that if Star Wars was released in our world where there hadn't been one before. It would have flopped. Nobody would watch it since 90% of the movie isn't action Action ACTION! If Lucas made 1, 2 and 3 like the originals nobody but the most faithful Star Wars fans would have even glanced in its direction.
Boring because those Jedi went down like pansies. Boring because of their horrid conversations... Lucas really needed to find another Harrison Ford(or bring Ford back so he could make Anakin look like a badass and not a whinny brat). Most of Han Solo's dialogue was Ford's modified version of the script.

Evakian

Yea, Lucas admitted openly that dialogue is his weak point

It was nothing more than the standard action/sci-fi formula created in the 80s and 90s

far from truth

If Lucas made 1, 2 and 3 like the originals nobody but the most faithful Star Wars fans would have even glanced in its direction.

He never adapted the script to fit the desires of the viewers, he made it the way he wanted it to be, some people hated the corny romance dialogue (including yours truly) but too bad, he doesn't care. he made them the way he wanted and planned for years and years

Most of Han Solo's dialogue was Ford's modified version of the script

Yep, Ford did that in alot of his movies, even changing entire scenes, that happened in Indy, the Jack Ryan films, and a few others here and there

oops....sorry

What I meant to say is I liked the new one more than the old one because in the old one that whore wouldn't stop screaming. It was annoying. I was watching it at 1am and I had to put it on mute because if I even pressed the volume button once, you can hear it from here to Switzerland.
