What amazes me is that this ass calls himself a christian and others actually follow him. I once called our local television station to complain about having him on the air and they told me it's paid programing and that there was nothing they could do.

the Associated Press wrote:
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson called on Monday for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, calling him a “terrific danger” to the United States.

Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition of America and a former presidential candidate, said on “The 700 Club” it was the United States’ duty to stop Chavez from making Venezuela a “launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism.”

Chavez has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of President Bush, accusing the United States of conspiring to topple his government and possibly backing plots to assassinate him. U.S. officials have called the accusations ridiculous.

“You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it,” Robertson said. “It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war ... and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”

The important thing is that oil shipments won't stop!
BTW - was the whole "thou shalt not kill" thingy a commandment or just a suggestion?

Some other choice quotes.

Pat Robertson wrote:
The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.

Pat Robertson wrote:
If the widespread practice of homosexuality will bring about the destruction of your nation, if it will bring about terrorist bombs, if it'll bring about earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor, it isn't necessarily something we ought to open our arms to.

Pat Robertson wrote:
It is interesting, that termites don't build things, and the great builders of our nation almost to a man have been Christians, because Christians have the desire to build something. He is motivated by love of man and God, so he builds. The people who have come into (our) institutions (today) are primarily termites. They are into destroying institutions that have been built by Christians, whether it is universities, governments, our own traditions, that we have.... The termites are in charge now, and that is not the way it ought to be, and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation.

Pat Robertson wrote:
They have kept us in submission because they have talked about separation of church and state. There is no such thing in the Constitution. It's a lie of the Left, and we're not going to take it anymore.

Sounds like Taliban to me.

Here are two more. So much for "thou shalt not lie" as well.

Pat Robertson wrote:
Individual Christians are the only ones really---and Jewish people, those who trust God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob--are the only ones that are qualified to have the reign, because hopefully, they will be governed by God and submit to Him.

Pat Robertson wrote:
I never said that in my life...I never said only Christians and Jews. I never said that.

This is why some non-christians have such a negative outlook towards Christainity. The sad thing about this is that folks follow him and even give a worse impression of there religion. Why would any loving religion allow such hate towards others?

What I want to know is why all the decent and goodChistians (that we keep hearing about but never hear from) haven't stood up and denounced this asshole.

Just like the decent and good Muslims won't stand up and denounce the terrorists and osama.

My guess is because deep down inside they believe the garbage these wackjobs are spewing..

Echo, I would guess that the good Christians would not cast the first stone, allow their god to be judge and punisher of Robertson, and pray for him to be forgiven and guided. That is what their New Testament is about. Anything different and they would not be good Christians.

Yes, I do understand that. However I would think that god would want them to stand up for their religion and not allow his reputation to be mired. An example is the vatican wanting to have a blurb at the beginning of the de'Vinci code denying its content.

This man is quite frightening. The ones who would listen to him are not going to stand up and say anything except "heil".

This reminds me of the Catholic crap that went on in MA, the church protected{along with the good Christians} the child abusers, WHY!!! Does God want the freaks protected, I highly doubt casting a stone at an evil purpose would have anything to do with judgement day???? God also helps folks that will help themselfs, I quess if folks will put up with the wrong then they get what they deserve. If a religion is about peace then maybe the folks of said religion should stand together and get rid of the bad apples?

Echo2 maybe you are correct about the deep down feeling of it being right? Or maybe most folks are just to scared to speak out against the higher power{more famous}. I think if I belonged to this religion and gave two turds about it I would speak up, oh well, maybe this is why Jesus used the word sheep :)

Pat apologized today staying that he was stressed or frustrated. This comes after he tried to deny it, saying that when he said "take out" he didn't mean kill. I guess he wanted to take Hugo to out for dinner and then the movies.

Hehe, I read that and also that Bush quickly removed himself from the whole thing. He would need to as I'm quite sure Pat's methods and tactics have been used frequently over the years. God knows we wouldn't want people to get curious about that.

A religion whose "god" orders his followers to take up their swords, go into a village, and hack to death every man, every woman, every child, every infant, every cow and every goat in that village, leaving nothing alive, is not exactly what i'd call a "loving" religion.

Roberston is no more nor less hateful than the imaginary omnipotent being-in-the-sky that he worships, IMO.

Tell me, when did your vendetta against followers of religions start, and when did it reach such a point that you make up lies to attack them?
