Ugh, too stringy. Go for the little black kids. Less exotic, perhaps, but all the fried chicken and collard greens really improve the taste.

BTW I have no idea who David Beckam is but I find it odd that so many celebrities who hate Muslims go to vacation and live in Muslim countries Don't they know that UAE doesn't have a democracy?? lol ;0)

David Beckham is the famous English soccer player. He's visited Dubai on a number of occasions so have many other celebrities. You might find it odd, but if you do come here to Dubai you'll find that the locals only make up around 11% of the whole population, the rest of the people living in the UAE are expats!
About the democracy, well the UAE has a representative democracy. Everyone's happy though, and the rulers are really good so no one's complaining and everyone's fine with it, they're pretty fair. Democracy does not equal strong nation, lol, the UAE is an excellent example of an undemocratic state that is running well.

Anyway, some celebrities might like it here, or don't mind Muslims. It's pretty peaceful :D

Just to enter??!?! They better pump you up with cocaine and have gold plated toilets...i mean...to be that expensive it has to be either not worth it or very blissful

LOL that really made me laugh.

Well some people have so much leftover money that they don't know what else to do with it, so they'll throw it on seeing the 7-star hotel everyone's raving about.
It's a once in a lifetime thing though, you have to see it once, even though it is ridiculously expensive. Many people think that it's worth it too!

ocent Sweety, I mean no offense to you or your country (BTW your food description made me hungry!) but I thought it was a good idea to tell Princess and the other the way seven star palaces and private islands are built...

"A US State Department report on worldwide human trafficking faults the UAE and other Gulf states for commonplace labor abuses like withholding pay and passports.

Employers usually confiscate passports and residence permits when workers arrive at Dubai International Airport, making it virtually impossible for laborers to seek better jobs or quit and go home. Migrants typically cannot obtain exit visas without the approval of their sponsor or employer. The story of these faceless men and women, who live in labor camps and seedy apartments, is gaining attention in the usually self-censored UAE press, which now regularly reports on worker protests over delayed pay and substandard living conditions."

No offense taken at all. I usually like to read such articles, such are the problems that we face.

National citizens are much better off though, even though most of those who have a UAE passport have aquired the citizenship, they're not natives.

Though think of it this way, you can't leave the country and are struggling to make ends meet. You just have to stay for a few years in order to get the citizenship and be able to leave the country as you please, and get all the benefits you can from being an Emarati.

And people wonder why many expats want the UAE passport :)

No, we're in Alaska. My husband is from Morocco so I have learned to cook alot of food from that region. I have a lot to learn still. Moroccan cuisine is absolutely wonderful!

Well some people have so much leftover money that they don't know what else to do with it, so they'll throw it on seeing the 7-star hotel everyone's raving about.

We don't have leftover money but do plan on seeing friends in Kuwait, visiting UAE and Oman after making our first Hajj in Meccah next year. We'll definitely dine at that restaurant and don't mind paying $55 to get in ;)

I agree with you. Moroccan cusine is great ! We are lucky in France to have so many north african immigrants - and thus many great north-african restaurants.
A recent study showed that the favourite dish of french people turns out to be couscous !

Oh you're a Muslim then, I didn't know that!

Well I wouldn't mind paying 55$ either, it is a once in a lifetime thing ;) for sure. Unless you were incredibly rich and could stay at it for so long. Btw, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are staying at the Burj at the moment.

Personally, I could care less where those two are at any given moment.

Lol, that's the first dish I learned how to make! I love lamb cous-cous and make it every Friday. I can understand why it's such a favorite!

Have you ever had any Moroccan dishes that had preserved lemons in it? I love those things especially w/ chicken and can eat them rind and all!

Un-american swine! Only true americans are obsessed with celebrities and spend 50 dollars a week to read those trashy magazines full of wothless info! How dare you! :D

I despise the fact that so many people are interested in the personal lives of movie actors and pop musicians, why do you care? It's rather perplexing really...

rind and all!

I am not exactly sure you should be eating the protective layers of citrus fruits ;)

What's your favorite style of eastern asian cuisine?

Thinking about food and eating habit again: It's amusing how many Americans describe a huge variety of food as "tastes like chicken." Especially when they try something new. I hope it's just a linguistic convention. Because I don't think anything but chicken tastes excactly like chicken, and only a handful of things taste sort of like chicken. I wonder why there is this cultural habit. You can see how if this is applied, the taster will eventually only have one taste to use as reference.

EX:

How does this ostrich eyeball stew taste?

Hmm, I think it tastes like that bear testicle I had before which tastes like marinated alligator tail, which in term tastes like fried cafish that tastes awfully like goat cheese, which I thought tastes just like...chicken! So all of these things taste like chicken!

It is, most likely popularized by use in movies and television shows. Chicken can be a rather bland dish though, unless cooked, marinated and seasoned properly with other ingredients..otherwise it can prove to be tasteless. hence the use of the term.

How does this ostrich eyeball stew taste?

Please tell me no one eats those things

I like to eat tofutti

What is tofutti?
Obviously some form of tofu, but what is it specifically?

Yeah, I thought so.

I have never heard of a dish like that, I just made it up. But if a good cook prepared it, I will try.

Being diabetic, I watch what I eat fairly closely. In fact, I write down everything I eat during the day along with my weight and BMI, and have been doing so for years. I have a ton of salt and pepper notebooks filled with what I have eaten over the years.

I find that carbohydrates really make my blood sugar go through the ceiling so I tend to stay away from them. No potatoes, no pasta, no rice, no bread, no cakes or cookies. I should really correct that, I do eat Dreamfield's low carb pasta and Weight Watchers low carb bread. I also use low carb wraps and pitas. Occasionally I will allow myself to deviate from my low carb diet. Last night I had pepperoni and mushroom pizza that my pizza guy makes for me with an extremely thin crust. I don't do something like that too often though.

In a typical day I will have a small bowl of puffed wheat or a frittata for breakfast.

Lunch will consist of a low carb wrap or a salad and dinner will be chicken, wurst, steak or the like with a salad and vegetables.

About 8:30 I have sugar free Jello or Edy's low carb icecream.

I pretty much stay away from fruit although I love it. It has an adverse affect on my blood sugar.

I've been eating like this since last March when I changed my eating habits because both my weight and blood sugar were going up to high. By eating this way I have lost 29 pounds and my blood sugar stays in the 85 to 120 range.
