Do you tip delivery people. For example the pizza person, the person who delivers you flowers, etc.
If you took a taxi would you tip?
If so, how much is reasonable?

Always tip delivery people, usually just rounding stuff up, If its a £12 pizza ill just round up to £15 etc. With taxis it depends on the time.. since a friday night (saturday morning) costs about £40 for a 20 minute ride, and i dont feel all that interested in tipping when im being ripped off in the first place.

We always tip heavily, and not just because we're rich.
We look at it this way--if you do so, you get extra good service. The waitstaff and others do those extra little things that can really make things worthwhile..esp if you're a regular customer.
On the other hand, if the person is rude, they don't get a cent. Being tired or harrassed or not having the time is something entirely different--I mean people who are actively rude. No, they don't get a single thing.

I allways tell them not to play with the hair dryer in the shower, I feel this is a good tip :D

I tip pretty well, 20%+ in places that I frequent. Others I tip about 15%. But I have money. If I was poor I most likely wouldn't tip much just because I would need the money.

I left a penny once, which was one cent more than the rude and slovenly person was worth, and told her not to spend it all in one place. I thought THAT was a good tip!
We sure are a nice family.

I pretty much always tip. The day I broke the wing record at Hooters, I gave her 20 bucks for getting me the wings fast enough to break that record.

Yeah right. You gave her $20 because she was acting like she wanted to date you. :)

Tipping is just good etiquette
Although, a big tip to a hot and flirty waitress doesnt always go over so well with the one I've taken to dinner. But it works great for me when I come back at quitting time... alone.

I'm the "tipper" in this house. My fiance' doesn't seem to get it that waiters, delivery people, etc. don't make all that much an hour. When we go out to dinner, I make it a point to leave the tip. But I will admit if the waiter/waitress is rude or just keeps getting the order wrong they get .75 cents to a dollar. I like them and they're great at what they do, the most I've tipped was 10 bucks....and that was for a meal that cost about 10 bucks. I'm not sure what the %age is to tip these days but I do about 15% to 20%. Is it higher?

Well at restaurants I tip 10% minimum, usually 15%, 20% if the service is good. Delivery people I tip 15-20, depending on how convenient it is (for example, the bill is $17, I give them a 20, which is less than a 20% tip but much more convenient than figuring it out exactly and getting out more money...). I know that delivery people don't make a lot per hour, and they do get money for gas (usually about a dollar per delivery), but they have to use their own car, and think about how much wear and tear that is driving around for like 6 hours a night? I know people who deliver pizza and they basically live on tips.

At restaurants I tip 15-20%, basing calculation on pre-taxed total. But I giddily await the opportune awful service for which I'll be leaving the 1 cent tip, like ren. Left one dollar once at a restaurant (the meal total was 20+ dollars) when the waitress first delivered my entree after my friend has already finished his, and was nowhere to be found when we tried to pay and leave.
I avoid going to restaurants when it's about to close. In that case unless it's a very good restaurant reknowned for their service, you are just asking for it. :hitout:
You tip reasonably to the cab driver if the service was satisfactory. I hate it when they get lost and the bill ends up much higher than it should be.
I tip the delivery person about 15%.

That seems to be where most of my waiters/waitresses screw up. Which is like the worst time to ignore me, because that's when I'm working out the tip. If you're slow to take my order, I might forget by the time the check rolls around.
