Just one of the best Science Fiction books of all time.
"The function of science fiction is not always to predict the future but sometimes to prevent it."

yes dune, glorious dune. Although i am surprised to see it on any other list besides my own.
Dune by Frank Herbert is one of the great science fiction pieces of all time. Nothing is comparable in the world of SF. Lotr does not even match its grace.
Makes for a good read whether you continue the series or not
DO NOT watch the TV/Film versions of it, they are horrible and do not do it full justice

Never heard of that one, Blib. I've heard of Brave New World, though, which is named after the Shakespeare quote "Oh, brave new world that has such people in it!" Notice, no "A" there.
In any case:
LOTR series
HHGTTG "trilogy"
1984
The Fountainhead
Ender's Game
And many more...

It's a bit juvenile, but it's really a good book, plus Hilton wrote it when she was just 17 or so.
