The season is over.
Tribco has unapologetically screwed you again.
97 seasons and counting.
Boycott.

You, sir, are a horrible Cubs fan. The mantra is, "We can still make it" until it's mathematically impossible, then "We'll get 'em next year."

Goddamn, dude, if you're going to blame anyone, blame Alex Gonzalez for fumbling the ball. Or blame the pitching. Leave the poor man alone.

Let's keep in mind too that STEVE BARTMAN WASN'T THE ONLY ONE REACHING FOR THE BALL...and...THERE WAS STILL A GAME 7 THAT THEY BLEW.

The curse existed before he was ever born. He's just its bitch. But I suppose if a ball was headed right towards you you wouldn't have tried to catch it?

There were 2 outs in the 8th, with the cub's leading.
It's within all likely hood, the cub's would have closed it out in the 9th.

IM sorry....
But if a team of "professionals" lets a foul ball completely deny their chances at a World Series.... then they don't deserve to go....
And if Moises Alou doesn't throw a 6-year oldish temper tantrum.. maybe none of that happens.....
and yes... there were about 7 people reaching for the ball...

I think Jerejere's thoughts on Bartman are fairly typical of the average cub's fan. Idiotic.
That said, the Cubs are still a good team and the wild card is not out of reach. Not as long as you have a Prior, Woods, Zambrano, and Maddox on the hill. I hope they win it soon simply because I sympathize with Steve Bartman.

You should be sympathizing with all the cubs fans. Not Steve Bartman. Hell, he became famous. What did we get? "Just another year."

Uh, I don't think he wants to be that kind of famous.

Ah, fame is fame. He'll have a book deal sooner or later, and he'll turn it into millions.

No, the season is just past the all-star game, therefore, the season is a little more than half over. They do have a chance at the wildcard.

They were great today. 5 homeruns in the first 3-4 innings.

If you're going to stage a revolt, you need a great rallying song. I suggest "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request" by Steve Goodman.

Playing well doesn't count when you're playing the Reds.

you know, you should all be ashamed of yourselves! sure, at times, i want to throw my television watching them play. but they've won 8 of their last 10. everybody's jocking d. lee, meanwhile aramis ramirez is creeping up quickly in the background. true, if it wasn't for these two, the cubs' season would've been over a LONG time ago. but when everyone's healthy, we have a GOOD team. now that patterson is gone; isn't hairston cutting up???

Lee is on fire, Ramirez is suddenly smoking, the other players like Walker and Burnitz have to work on their inconsistencies, but I dont think Burnitz will be coming back next year. Our biggest problem is pitching, if we got rid of Dusty Baker and his know abuse of pitchers, maybe they would stay healthy and we could become serious competitors! I say dump Dusty!

The only truly horrible Cub fans are the ones who insist on throwing money at those greedy incompetents in their ghastly Tribune tower, where the bottom line is the bottom line. Period.
I say the fans should boycott, too. Here's why: The playoffs simply are never automatic in Chicago as seems to be the case in other cities such as Atlanta or NY with the Yankees.
You pick up any almanac, and you see that over the last 30-plus years other clubs in markets of various sizes have stayed competitive for years at a time.
Kansas City. Oakland. Cincinnati. St. Louis. Pittsburgh. Philly. LA. At one time or another the postseason was automatic in all of these places, and they all have won at least one title.
Even Cleveland had their chances in the late '90s. Even they were automatic.
What city don't you see listed very often? Chicago. (Not just the Scrubs but the Sox, too.) They get a taste of the playoffs and go into hibernation for 5-10 years. They do nothing to build on those rare successful seasons in which the result was the div. title or WC. Nothing.
They certainly have the resources to field teams that stay competitive more often than just once in a while. But they just don't think that they have to. There's never any feeling of urgency as if to say, "Oh, God. The Cubs haven't won a damn thing in 5 generations. We've owned them for 25 years and not one pennant. What can we do to reverse all that?" Shame is never part of the equation.
These people are accountants first & foremost, marketers 2nd, lawyers 3rd, landlords 4th etc.
They are not baseball men. I don't care who Andy MacFail's dad was. They do not know how to run a baseball team.
As long as 3 million suckers show up, that is the World Series to them.
Who are the terrible fans? Those idiots in the stands from Iowa or wherever are the bad fans. They're enablers. If they're content with mediocrity in their own lives, fine. But why do they have to inflict it on the rest of us?
