There is a lot of things that are not even dreamt of in your philosophies, Horatio....
For instance, the Piri Reis map, painted on a gazelle's skin, shows Antartica, without the ice...before it was even discovered...
Later on, Oronteus Finacus drew a map in 1531, which included the outline and detailed contours and the interiour mountains in Mercators' Atlas of 1569.
Also, in 1757 Phillip Buache published a copy of one of these maps with features not discovered until 1958, when they did a seismic survey during the Int'l Geophysical year.
It does make you wonder....
All this before they even discovered the glacier encrusted continent...how did Finacus know what Antartica looked before the ice, or that it was even there?
