Ever notice that whenever people are in danger or feel threatened, the first thing they "especially women" do is scream? :D

I'm sure that there is some type of explanation for this, but so far I haven't been able to find a suitable one. At first I thought that it may even be a part of natural human instinct, (to intimidate whatever is posing a threat to flee) but after watching disaster movies with people screaming before car crashes or falling from high places,I'm not so sure. If you know of any psychology books or magazines that covers this in depth, please refer them by both title and author. I'm sure that it would make for some very good reading and would help me understand this type of behavior a lot better.

Anyone know right off hand why this is?

It is instinct, sometimes back in the day, a scream could save your arse or at the very least warn the others in the tribe. example: a Bear is attacking so you scream and throw it of gaurd for a split second, it could help you to get away but if nothing else the rest of the tribe might be able to get away. Have you ever watched beavers? I used to spend hrs on a river spooking them 1 slaps its tail and they all haul a**. A scream is a warning it kind of like a last resort for saving ones arse. The strongest moment in an animals{humans are still animals} life is when it is full of fear.

Alert others of your danger so they'll come help you.

Now, why do we yawn? ::yawns::

the yawn is our body telling us it is tired and needs more fuel to keep going. So we yawn suck in a huge amount of air and the body trys to keep going. The yawn that goes from one to another is just a reaction. If you want to have fun, while having a conversation with someone. start flicking at your nose. More then likely they will start messing with their nose. I have done this a few times and it is funny.

on the yawn, similar but: I thought it was that your body needed more Air to stay awake. Like how your breathing slows when you (are) fall(ing) asleep. You body is trying to counter act falling asleep because youre subcounsciously telling it you want it to be awake.
