When I was marching in the Salute to Israel parade last month, someone handed me a free DVD ominously titled "A Stab in the Heart: Revealing the whole truth about the Disengagement plan and Israel's security." I watched it today, and it was mostly footage of settlers in Gaza talking about how they don't want to leave, Rabbis talking about how the Palestinians aren't going to stop until they take all of Israel interspersed with video clips of extremist Palestinians calling for the death of all Jews. I visited their website (above) and the comments posted on their message board made me ill. One poster referred to the Palestinians as "cruel animals" and many more posters wrote about how Israel was given to the Jews by God. These comments, I thought, were what the DVD was really trying to communicate in between the lines. It argued against the Disengagement mainly from a personal or security standpoint; trying to hide the underlying vein of religious fundamentalism and longstanding animosity. There is no mention of Peace or reconciliation, and no mention of your regular, everyday Palestinians.
Please click on the link up there, read the comments, watch the video (it's about a half hour long) and get back to me.
