This insane looking dude was caught with a chainsaw with blood on it and the border officials couldnt find reason to detain him? WTF? He then told them he was a "marine assassin"? Does anyone who works for the government have any common sense at all?

I am from New Brunswick where this crazy looking whacko cut up two people, and was amazed when I heard that he was questioned at the border and then released. Can you imagine what would have happened in the press if he did the same thing to more people after they let him go. I know security on the Canada US border was slack but this is just stupid.

Imagine if things were the other way around, and he was a Canadian killing Americans.

Do you imagine anything different?

From the article:
"At the end of the day a U.S. citizen is entitled to return to the country and we [can't] hold people without a legal basis. So it was not a failure of investigation or failure of processing. It was kind of an inherent limitation of our system of law."

It's the price we pay for freedom. He was a naturalized citizen. They questioned him for two hours and researched his past...Nothing turned up to allow them to detain him further. Apparently he didn't seem inclined to confess.
