Well, I am beginning to think that this whole cloning business
with the Raelians is a hoax. It seems that every time they're
challenged to bring proof of their claims of cloning not one but
two human babies, they always find some way of not doing it.
At first, they stalled, saying it would take eight days after the
birth of the alleged clone to be properly DNA tested. This is a
bunch of nonsense. In fact, on one news program I saw a week
and a half ago, Brigitte(the spokesperson for Clonaid and presumably the Raelians said that DNA tests were taken of
the pregnant woman and clone before the child was born! And
other tests were taken soon afterwards.

Then, the excuse to not allow DNA testing by scientists who
don't have wacky religious beliefs about extraterrestrials, was the fear that the child in question would be taken away from her
parents. The last I heard is now the parents of this child will not
allow the tests to be done.

So what does that tell you? What it tells me is that the Raelians
are perpetrating a hoax. That they have committed what they believe is a practical joke and are laughing their heads off.

Zoesaunt,

You make these allegations based on your speculation. Where is the smoking gun that might prove your contention of the cloning being a hoax, a practical joke, or a scam?

As for wacky beliefs, is it your belief that anyone holding views different than your own are whackos?

Of course it is a hoax. If the Raelians really had managed to create a clone, they would have rushed to give evidence ! It would be such a great deal for them !
It reminds me of Bush and the "classified evidence" of massive destructions weapons in Iraq. Maybe Bush is a Raelian (or more likely an alien).

Astrapol2,

Says, "Of course it is a hoax. If the Raelians really had managed to create a clone, they would have rushed to give evidence !" Since the Raelians don't speedily reveal their proofs, to his/her mind the whole thing is a hoax.

Cloning is a highly controversial matter, and most governments on earth are quite interested in it as a weapon. Its doubtful that any of these interested parties would hesitate to send in the goons to get all the information necessary to cloning.

Also, organ banks show an interest in cloning since it could guarantee them an endless supply of much needed body parts, and a river of money flowing into their coffers.

Perhaps those wrascaly Raelians are smarter than people give want to believe. They have the entire world interested in them and their beliefs and that proves quite profitable.

I read an estimation on the value of the publicity they got from the stunt - approx equal to $500million of advertising

They probably got tens of thousands of new converts. Add to the publicity the media shots of hot girls in tight shorts + the mention that group sex was practiced & I bet the line to signup was wrapped around the block many times

They hit gold with that.

I wonder if that was how the Roman Catholic church got it's jump start :D

Yes, it most definitely has been a bonanza for the cult in both money and new memberships. Should we not now say that someone in the organizations has some brains?

Well, some old Catholics did think secular sex a devil's pasttime. :D
