It's some sort of women's growing-up guide from the 1950's that is just...just...absurd? Rediculous? Hilarious in a completely wrong way? I don't know how to describe it. Go look.

People way back when were not exactly what we would call enlightened, obviously. According to them, men are hedonistic whores, and women only derive true pleasure from making men happy.

Well, different times, I guess. I am, however, glad that today's society allows everyone to be equal. On a similar note, does anyone know anyone who still thinks like this book? I'm kind of hoping that they all died out...

Well, there probably are many people who still think like that book. They just are extra-careful to hide it.

The part on homosexuality is the craziest. "So homosexuality DOES exist!" And the pictures too, my lord. I need to go to the Library of Congress and track that book down so I can read the whole thing.

That is the crap that I was taught as a child. Luckily I have never been the type to blindly believe what I am told by adults.

Yes there are people who still think like that living today. Most of them are in their 70's with a few younger hold outs sprinkled around.

Things I was told by adults with complete sincerity.
1) Masterbation will make you go blind
2) You can get pregnant from petting.
3) Men can not be trusted to control their sex drive so it is up to women to be carefull af where and with whom she spends time with.
4) Nice girls don't enjoy sex.
5) Women who have sex before they are married are whores and will never find a man to marry them.
6) All men want to marry a virgin.
7) Sexual relations within marraige is a womans duty.
8) A woman will never be happy without a husband.
9) It is a womans duty to support and take care of her husband. NO MATTER WHAT. She should never "turn him down".

Another great one was:

Smokeing marijuana will make you turn to violent crime and lead to a life in prison.

You may either be shocked or atleast very suprised at how many still think this way. As Sputnik pointed out they are carefull, watch for the wolves to be in sheep clothing.

I disagree about the 70 year old thing there are just as many younger folks as older if not more. Alot of the 70 year olds were taught this way but alot realized long ago how stupid some things were. With age comes wisdom{ of course not allways but usually}

This one here can be true I have seen it happen, of course it doesn't prove that all pot heads are violent just as with any other drug. It is the person personality that drives them to their path in life.

I hope you are not serious??? You are correct pot does mellow some if not most who use it, but if you think smoking pot will help a person be peacefull then you are living in a shoe box. I know alot of folks that use pot {and are addicted} and do become a major pain in the a** violent etc... These same people sit and b***h about people who drink telling how drinkers are the violent ones. Drugs effect folks in different ways and if you are allready a violent person alot of times taking the drug will just make that side of you come out stronger. Every stoner I have ever met is a peaceful person. And THC is not physically addictive, like nicotine and cocaine are.

I was taught the male version of such crap. My favorite line from my father was, "If you ever accidentally go to far with a girl, be sure to come and talk to me. We can go over to her house together and apologize to her and her parents."
Part of all this is the advance in technology. The development of the "pill" had enormous social consequences. The idea that sex did not automatically lead to children was a radical departure from what had gone before.

You could not be anymore misinformed, my friend. I've been a stoner for about 10 years, and during that time, I've met tons of pot addled, wannabe hippies, and NEVER ONCE have I seen a baked person exude "violent" tendencies. I'm sorry, it just doesn't happen. By your own interpretation, if "bitching" about drunken high schoolers equates to being "violent", then I'd be willing to bet you don't get out much.
